Because it looks fun and cool, it's probably one of the best exclusives from 2014, although we better wait for previews until we start saying this.

The only reason it is getting any hype whatsoever is because it is an exclusive, plain and simple. Insomniac is out to prove they haven't lost it, thats how bad Fuse was. And heres hoping they've done that. But considering we're actually set to get multiple huge open-world games coming out this Fall (AC:Unity, Destiny, and GTAV Next-gen) I think its fair to say that just being open-world may not suffice...
Still, lets see what they got at E3 and from Edge.

What do you honestly expect him to say? "It's terrible and we don't like it."
He is a front man for products, a skilled PR guy. He will say anything and tease whatever you want in order to make everything seem okay and things are going fantastically. Hes said similarly about other Xbox One exclusive games over the last few months.
I can't believe you are going to sit here and tell people that because Phil Spencer, the man who was previously in-charge of overseeing all published game software by Microsoft for Xbox, is loving a game that they are going to publish, and you do not find that he may be justifiably biased? Come on now.
Someone asked him, "what are you guys playing around the office lately?". He didn't have to respond with Sunset Overdrive, 1 year before release... I just don't see a reason to disbelieve him, as if he is going to say: "This is the greatest gamer ever created", and after preview every gamingsite shits on it... That wouldn't even be credible...
So, because he just responded with SO, which he did purposefully because he got the exact reaction from followers like you, you think that is an indicator of anything?
That game is supposedly coming out this fall/holiday, a date that they reiterated earlier. Because i've shipped a few games professionally (most recently in March), I can assure that whatever the game is right now in development, it probably hasn't even entered the optimization phase, and they are probably crunching on getting some form of an E3 demo together in the next few weeks. Depending on when that tweet came out, there probably really wasn't much to play anyway.
You think that a build he is referring to even fully encapsulates everything that game is going to end up being, at this point? There are probably tons of features which aren't even implemented yet. Come on, if you follow this industry you should be smarter than this. Just to give you an example of what I am talking about - I shipped a game in late October of 2012. In August of that year, that game had ZERO work done on two full levels that would end up being featured in the final product. We completely fleshed them out, polished them, and shipped the game. 6 weeks prior, they didn't even exist.
The game I most recently worked on that got released had features that are in the game and being praised and loved that didn't exist 4 months ago!
