So I just browsing my friends list on Steam when I found my friend had 5 perfect game, that means he already platinumed 5 games in PS4

But, when I click the text hoping to see what games he had platinumed....nothing happened

I don't understand it at first, but when I searched in Google I realized one thing:

STEAM CANNOT SHOW YOUR/YOUR FRIEND'S PERFECT GAME LIST. You must register yourself at astats to see YOUR perfect game list, that means if your friends haven't registered, then you can't see his status

Really, this is a MAJOR LETDOWN for me. Why can't I see my friends perfect achievement? Why can't I see my own perfect achivement? What's the point in scoring 100% in achivement when yourself and your friends can't see it? I don't understand, why can't Steam learn from PSN and Xbox Live? Its so easy to look my friends platinum trophy in PS4, and that what's encouraged me to play games too, to beat my friends trophy and score. Here in steam? No, you cannot do that, good luck guessing what 5 games your friend had already platinumed. And people said multiplayer play best in Steam? Wow...

@thehig1: I'm not obsessed with achivement/trophy, but I do feel achievement gave us more replay value in our game

Sometimes people too obsessed with achievement and made them didn't enjoy the game because of that, I'm not like that
For me, achievement is like a bonus. Back then when I'm actively playing my PS3, my trophy rank number 25 in my country, Indonesia (Although now it already fallen to rank 256). In our PS3 Indonesia Forum the rank number 1 and 2 always compete with each other to gain the number 1 ranking. That's quite a nice touch from Sony. So I think, yeah I cared about trophy and achievements.

I never really bothered with achievements after the first year of the X360. It's the same with Steam.

They do. That's why Playstation, Steam, and even mobile and Flash games all have them now, after Xbox introduced them. Only Nintendo doesn't have such a system in place.

It is pretty lame though. You could do that on Xbox 9 years ago. Surely not too hard to implement on Steam either. If they are going to implement achievements like Xbox, might as well do them correctly with all the functionality intact.

Why bother putting in all that work for a handful of games that use the Steam achievement system? Its not like the 360's system where every game had to have achievements..... Steam achievements are optional.

"Handful"? Most new games have achievements, certainly anything that's on also on Xbox/PS.

Considering that some games have over 500 achievements and others only have 1. It would be kinda useless to see how many games they've platinumed.

I have yet to meet any PC gamer that gives a flying **** about Achievements, most people just prefer to,ya know, play the game!

MS are same the douchbags that gave you a DAY ONE achievement for spending hundreds of dollars on launch day for an XBOX one.........you can keep that nonsense and the idiots who support it.

Occasionally I'll go for an achievement for my own personal satisfaction, but why the hell would I care about what someone else has? Don't think I've ever checked anyone's achievements on any system.

You can see achievements, you just don't have a little list to show which games someone has got 100% in without the effort of checking yourself.

I remember the days where the game itself justified replaying, and not forcing yourself to tolerate it more just to unlock more digital trophies for a digital shelf nobody looks at.

Shit! Now I need to go throw my PC in the bin. It's just not good enough now that I know console gamers can more easily see if I've completed a game or not.

R.I.P. PC it was fun while it lasted :(

the list is so big at this point im not even going to bother to list everything but here is a snippet

1. bang for the buck

2. customer support

3. compatibility

4. ease of use

4. ease of use

  1. $400 USD + tax for something that can't achieve 1080p60. Yep.
  2. I've heard absolutely horrid things about MS and Sony customer service. Not seeing the plus here.
  3. Because the PS4 and Xbone only play PS4 and Xbone games respectively. No backwards compatibility because they want you to rebuy all your games.
  4. Maybe in the days of true plug-n-play, but now there are more mandatory updates and installations than on PC.

I'm not sure how people can justify paying an arm and a leg for either the PS4 or Xbone when they barely have any worthwhile software and try so hard to be a PC-like platform, but fail so miserably since they have to remain closed to any sort of real customization.

I'd like to see the rest of this "list" because there are very few reasons to own a console (non-Nintendo) these days if you have access to even a halfway decent PC. All the worthwhile (non-Nintendo) games this generation have been multiplatform. Hell, most of the Platform and GOTY's for this year have been multiplatform.

1. They lure you in with an initial low price and milk you dry through higher price software + subscriptions.

2. I can't comment on this much.

3. At least if a game has compatibility/performance issues on the PC, somebody somewhere will fix it (If the dev doesn't). On console you just need to hope the dev fixes it.

4. Can't argue with that (Unless a game is broken and needs patched)

1. is there $400 pc that can do 1080p/60fps? nope. ps4/x1 are much cheaper now anyway usually $350+ game, no way any pc can offer more bang of the buck

2. bullshit. ms/sony customer services is miles better than steam or origin. i bought moh airbourne and the bloody thing doesnt even work and origin customer service was fukin clueless.

3. all x1 games will work on x1, will all pc games work on pc? nope. compatibility/performance issues, bad ports et.

4. offline mode, dont have to update anything. and installs literally take 3-4min on ps4 for most games

1. Show me a PS4 that consistently does 1080p and 60fps or the last time any PC gamer had to pay for online gaming (outside of ISP)

2. Never had a problem with EA, Ubisoft or Steam's support, not that I've had much need for any of them (in fact I don't think I've ever contacted Steam's support)

3. Can't think of the last game I had trouble running. Maybe getting Kotor 2 to run at 1920 x 1080 (a resolution it was never designed for) Even Assassin's Creed: Unity ran without any bother

4. Steam, Origin and Uplay all have off line mode and you can turn off auto up dates for any game. I can download and install a 15Gb game and be playing in 15 to 20 minutes, most up dates take seconds especially when the game is installed on my SSD. Anyway that has very little do with your preferred platform and more to do with your internet connection speed.

  1. Yes. Users here post sub-$400 rigs all the time. You might not get the best of the best, but less than $400 1080p60 is more than possible. 1080p is the standard for PC gaming right now.
  2. MS and Sony CS are terrible. Steam is good. Origin is crap. Origin is EA though, so they are in the same league as Sony and MS. Don't even get me started with Xbox Live and PS2 DRE.
  3. All Steam/GOG games work on PC, they are designed to be compatible with modern hardware and OS's. Even if the PC compatibility chart only included games from the past 10 years, that would be tens of thousands of games more than the Xbone and PS4 combined.
  4. Except for those games where you need to be online to play. Or online to validate the game. Steam has an offline mode as well numbnuts.

You are trying, but failing.

I never cared enough about this.

If I want to check out someone's achievements it's usually for a specific game, and that's easy enough to find

Lets look at the bright side. Steam's achievement system is still better than the Wii U's.
