Blizzard announced it sold over a million at launch and is the final expansion of SC2. The story seem to pretty much concluded the entire franchise. Will Blizzard ever make another SC or move on to make a new IP. I wonder if they will jump back to the old warcraft franchise again

Apparently they haven't ruled out another RTS game, however the "RTS team" is still pretty busy with SC2 and the upcoming DLC missions, but they don't know yet about their next big title, they said it could be another Starcraft game or even Warcraft 4 since they know people want that gamer...personally i love Warcraft 3 and i love Starcraft 2, so as long as they gave me another RTS i'm pretty happy.

Starcraft 3 WILL happen, but it won't happen anytime soon. At least not this decade. I can see Warcraft 4 happening though, since it's currently the most demanded game (more than new IP even). Meanwhile they will continue to support Starcraft 2 with multiplayer updates and short campaigns like upcoming Nova DLC.

Congrats! StarCraft deserves the success, as the best RTS franchise on the planet.

However, the majority of those sales probably came from South Korea...

That's great for them, though sadly I only like playing the Terran's against the Zerg. That's why Wings of Liberty is my favorite RTS game of the last decade, this is also why I haven't bothered with the addons yet.

Try them. You won't regret it. I was also worried that after playing Phenomenal Wings of Liberty campaign, how will I be able to get into Alien races. But they gave them so much personality and charisma that I ended up loving expansions as much as Wings of Liberty. Hell, expansions offer more variety in mission, improved graphics, better physics system, and art/presentation also saw a huge improvement. You'll love them. Trust me.

They said they wouldn't make a new one after Brood War.

12 years late Wings of Liberty arrived.

That said, I've lost almost all interest in StarCraft after getting into Warhammer 40000. Not sure why, because I loved the original StarCraft and loved both Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm.

It's done for now. But there's no way there won't be StarCraft III in like ten years or so.

Business of course it will happen, because it draws so much money.

Personally speaking it be far more cool if Blizzard went on to new things, and never went back to Starcraft. Narrative wise it's mostly done, anything else won't carry the same stakes or merit. Gameplay wise considering how much of the core needs to stay the way it is, they aren't exactly ever in a position to do anything wild with it. It's a legendary series, move on to something else.

idk they pretty much destroyed the SC universe for me. Blizzard's storytelling just isn't the same anymore...in fact, they just plain suck at it.

The competitive scene is too huge for them to just drop SC.

Yeah,,, that's why I said, Starcraft 3 WILL happen but not anytime soon. They'll support Starcraft 2 for several years to come.
