Nothing wrong with giving people early beta access that's what the modules are for. Many games could have benefited from actual feedback.

If you watch the stream you'll know that they are releasing the FPS module, Planetside module, Arena Commander 2.0, Squadron 42 Episode 1 and the beginnings of the persistent universe all next year.

The game will never be "released" in the traditional sense. It's being released in small pieces over 3-4 years.

Sceptically? This is the most transparent game development has ever been. You know exactly what you are getting and buying in now helps fund the game's development (meaning the more you spend, the better and more vast the game can be).

If you don't think THE MOST CROWD-FUNDED THING IN THE HISTORY OF CROWD-FUNDING is going to be one of the most successful and profitable games of all time, I don't know what you think.

They just sold another 890x $600 USD ships in a matter of minutes. In the last 15 hours, they've made another $1.602 million. That money is being funneled directly into the game's creation. There is no middle man publisher taking their cut. It's all for the game.

Oh yes, and Chris Roberts said that Squadron 42 is being designed to have as much content as any other modern AAA release by itself. A 50 hour long singleplayer mode over multiple episodes has been planned.

I cannot wait in a few months when they showed us more my body is ready. Imagine when they finish the game. Patiently waiting for the next module.

Not 50 hours . There will be 50 missions and I am pretty sure he once mentioned this in "Ten for the Chairman" that it'll be over 15 hours long campaign , which is awesome . Most so called AAA games these days are only 5-7 hours long with no replay value and Squadron 42 will have multiple endings . Then there is first expansion "Behind Enemy Lines" as well as Star Citizen itself .

EDIT : You were right , I just watched the presentation again . He said it's 50 hours long . That's INSANE .

You can do that with this game too . 40 Bucks for both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen . When backers , fund a game , there is reward for them . That's how crowd funding always worked .

Yeah, but I prefer to play a full release, rather than waiting for parts to release every now and then. That's just not how I play my video games.

It will never be released as a traditional game. The first part is coming next year with the rest of the content being added as the year progresses.

I can just wait until the vast majority of the content is there then :D

I can't see your point because that's how this game is going to be released . Squadron 42 will release next year , while Star Citizen itself will release in early 2016 . Both will be commercial products , like any other game . You can purchase both games now for 40 bucks and take part in alpha , or wait and pay 60bucks like other games on release . You could also pre order it for 30 bucks during early days . 30 bucks package didn't give you access to alpha and beta but was supposed to give you full Squadron 42 and Star Citizen on release . Don't know if they still have that offer ATM .

Yes . After that , universe will expand further with updates on weekly basis . But that will be the point when reviewers will be allowed to review the product .

This very well may end up being the biggest joke the industry has ever seen. 50 million in and there's next to no balance or gameplay. It isn't seamless, the scope of the game isn't happening, and people are buying into this guys bullshit. How are people getting duped into this.
