That's hot sh!t right there. Would love to see a lot more though

Yeah this is ridiculously good already, for something that is pre-pre-pre-alpha. I trust this game is going to be something really special.

Even with the amount of detail lost in these compressed "HD" videos; this game still looks amazing.

Do you even play this type of games?

#7 Posted by Vari3ty (11111 posts) -

Time to finally get into PC gaming...

#8 Posted by Jebus213 (8748 posts) -
They should let us give them money till the game is released.
#9 Posted by Sushiglutton (5226 posts) -

The spaceport looks real cool. But I must say I'm not impressed by the flying at all at this stage. It looks slow and sluggish. There is no feel of speed what so ever. And when turning the ship looks "fixed", completely disrupting the illusion. I really hope they put some work into the core gameplay over the next two years (seems kind of likely :D), because that's not good enough. They could have ten million star systems, fifty thousand different ships, all the customization you could imagine. But if the flying isn't fun it's all worthless.

They do. It's called a subscription. They offer $10 and $20 tiers.

Looks amazing.

I hate the lack of space combat games this gen! I would love a new Wing Commander or Colony Wars game.

Man,if they pull this off this can easily be one of the best games ever made.

It will not be polished unless the budget is somewhere around 10million USD.

It will be great, but buggy.

WTF is this crap?

Maybe I don't understand the game enough.

The budget is supposed to be at least 15 million dollars, they only needed 2 millions to prove to their private inverstors that it was worth it and they pull that one off incredibly. So yeah,at least 15M of budget.

It will be a great, well-polished game then.

Is the concept of a subscription completely foreign to you? Besides, if you wanted to pay once, the message on RSI's site says that yes, you will be able to continue to upgrade and/or add on items at pledge prices (presumably excluding the limited items offered during the past few days).

WTF is this crap?

Maybe I don't understand the game enough.

Perhaps if you'd been a PC gamer 15-20 years ago, you'd understand. Ah, the nouveau elite.

Is Star Citizen going to be similar to this?

This is gonna be a long 2 year wait for Star Citizen....solely gonna upgrade my PC for when that game comes out.

I still think Star Citizen is a really crappy name for a game, couldn't they come up with something better?

#27 Posted by ReadingRainbow4 (13455 posts) -

these guys secured around 6 million in funding from kickstarter, not to mention the 12 or so they are receiving also from private Funders.

This games going to have a pretty respectable budget.

It looks good, but as a person who never plays this kind of games, I cannot say anything about the gameplay shown.

It sounds like an atari game. What does being a Star Citizen have to do with flying a space ship and fighting other space ships?

So what should it be, Star Mercenary? I think Star Citizen is perfect, it incites that the game will involve more than just flying around blowing sh*t up.

I hope this game gets some good writing, a strong story would really help.

Do you craft stars in Starcraft? What sense does the Half Life name makes? Are you crying really far in Far Cry? You´ll find that many videogame names are usually not that consonant with the game itself.

Star Citizen is a great name, and it actually fits a lot more with the game than a ton of videogames out there.

This game is something unusual out of this generation's library of games, I'm definitely checking this game out. At first, I was like WTF is this and I'm sure I'll get it soon.

Unusual but not the only one,the X series has been around for years with two games released this gen(X3 Terran Conflict and X3 Albion Prelude) and Evochron Mercenary as well, part of the Evochron series. You seem to be a PC gamer so it´s kind of baffling you never heard of those games or games with a similar structure of Star Citizen, they always were extremely popular with the PC gaming community.

I used to be a PC gamer when I was a kid and then turned to consoles for a long time. So I lost touch with PC gaming. Just returned back to heaven recently (PC).

Do you even know what Half Life means and what a far cry is?

A "far cry" is thedistance estimated in terms of the audibility of a cry; "it's a far cry from here". Does that not relate to Far Cry's open world theme?

And this is what Half Lifemeans.

Yes,I´m very aware of what the terms mean thank you very much, how are they more appropriate to their respective games than Star Citizen?

You seem to have missed the point I was making.

I disagree, I still think Star Citizen is a bad name. It doesn't even have a good ring to it.

Well I don't think Star Citizen is a bad name. In that case, Mass Effect would be a bad name too.

Well that´s the thing,in the context of the game itself some names may seem to be less than appropriate, but that doesn´t mean they don´t sound good.

I wasn´t saying I don´t like the Half Life of Far Cry game names,I was merely debating the fact that they aren´t exactly fitting with the games themselves, something that most certainly doesn´t apply to Star Citizen.

Yes.

For a recurring payment, usually monthly, you receive a distribution of content on roughly the same date as payment is collected.

Agreed. The more I think about it the more I like it.

The name is great. Makes it sound grand in scale and there aren't too many other video games with Star in the name.
