I think we all expected a 10% boost so if in theory there's a 20% boost that's awesome!

I'm sure the 20% boost is in ideal situations though, let's not forget that. On paper and in practice are two different things. As I've gotten into game development the last year or so I can't stress this enough.

There it is i guess. 20% is a whole lot more than Dx12 doing nothing for the Xbox One.

Yay! Parity time? Parity time! :D

Will be interesting just how this will affect games (I'm assuming we will start to notice the effects on the games being released on the 2nd half of the year).

I don't have high expectations for DX12 for the bone, but i'm very curious to see what it'll be like in Windows 10.

I wasn't expecting that big of a boost to the GPU. It has all been talk about the big boost the CPU would get. This is a bonus and a knee to the groin of all the "experts" around here claiming they knew exactly what DX12 would do.

Yes please. But my PC gaming is confined to my Surface Pro so I won't be able to take advantage of much of this.

Wait a minute, didn't El Tormo and GrenadeLicker say DX12 will do NOTHING for the XB1. LMAO!! Cows getting owned left and right. Where's El Tormo at. I have some CROW for his dinner. I too saw it on the GDC chat. I'm watching it right now. Here are some other things said at Phil GDC conferece.

Battletoads are coming to Shovel Knight!

Phil Spencer announces that a Wireless adapter for Xbox One controllers to work on Windows 10 will be coming out later this year.

Announces Gigantic which is a shooter, moba, rpg mash up. Gigantic is coming to Windows 10 and Xbox One later this year and will be cross play.

Here comes the butthurt Cows to disagree even thought it came from Phil Spencer himself. lol!!

Greatness is coming...

Dude did you not see that list @SolidTy has been posting about, apparently there's Exclusives, Family Exclusives, Console Exclusives and Weak Exclusives.

So yeah, exclusives for everyone, Oprah style.

a 50% CPU boost and 20% GPU boost are a dramatic change. Now what's weird is that with such dramatic change yet they provide no benchmarks? Very suspicious indeed.

Not even a simple demo like that one of the asteroids to show the before and after of the performance.

That leads me to wonder how much of the GPU was restricted to begin with.

No matter what they "boost" from the xbone GPU it's still basically a 7770 (compared to the 7850ish PS4 GPU) so no amount of boosting will ever put it on par with PS4. Sony can also release an firm ware update to "boost" the PS4's GPU in kind if they feel the need.

Using the word boost seems misleading in that sense, it should be something like "release a (insert % amount) reserve of" but whateve's PR.

We knew about the limiting of xbone's power due to Kinect but that was supposed to be updated already so I wonder what is holding it back now to have 20% to "boost"? It will be interesting if the update will have any significant change in the actual development of game in the future.

Cue El Tormo and Am-Gamer in 3-2-1...

As a gamer, this has no effect on my perception of the XO and PS4 since I switched to buying most multiplats on PC late last gen. As a system warrior, however, I hope this is true since cows would have no reason to live at that point.

20% or not, it is still a joke. If you people really care about power, it is time to join the PC Master Race. Do not waste your time with this peasantry.

That means nothing. The hardware is not getting a 20% overclock or 20% more transistors/compute cores so its still the same garbage it was.

Small frimware updates to the consoles improve the efficiency of the compilers and API all of the time for both consoles. This is nothing new.

So basically, no dramatic change like it was expected. And that's supposing that the game implements any features from DX12 that's relevant to the game. Not only that, a game needs to be written in DX12 from the ground up in order to get that 20% boost. I wonder how many developers are going to be willing to do that?
