Sony NEVER had intentions of XBone DRM for PS4

Here it is from the dragons mouth. They had to rewrite their 2013 E3 conference script to distance themselves from the DRM fiasco because lying fanboys wanted to make something of nothing and Sony had no intention of playin along or getting caught up in the crossfire.

The "bu-bu-bu Sony was going to do it too" argument is now rendered dead and obsolete.

Sony's policies did not change at any time, House stressed, but it had become clear Sony would do well to state its position more carefully.

If you had looked at their policies on DRM it would've been the next thing on the list for people to get angry at if it wasn't Microsoft. What they decided to do wasn't exactly great either.

And holy crap, did you just bring up previous gen remakes?

This is clearly PR to further separate themselves from the DRM debacle.

There is no proof here other than Sony's word, and Sony's word hasn't always been known to be the most truthful. Toy Story graphics indeed...

They removed backwards compat last gen to cut costs not sell you last gen games. The chip removal and the other removals drove the price down. There was hardly a ps2 library on the PS3 until years after that decision.

Have you considered that Sony BMG's experience with disc-based DRM influenced Sony Computer Entertainment to stay away from that shit?

Sony also patented user-interactivity with adverts years ago so you could shout the brand name and make it go away faster. That's been implemented everywhere, hasn't it?

Use that soft pink thing in your head more often, mate, and I'm not referring to your tongue.

Actually, it's what the article implicitly implies. Andrew House saying that Sony never had intentions on changing the policy. Even going so far as to saying that the current policy has been good for business. Then there's you, an XBox fanboy, claiming he must be wrong despite having no real evidence suggesting that.

keep telling yourself that. it just so happened that as BC was removed, the HD collections (multiple versions of in GofW's case) came along.

MS are guilty of it too with Xone.

but Sony gave it, then took it away.

Look bottom line, Sony outmaneuvered MS like a chess pro. None of us knows for sure what Sony's intentions were, but posting a story from a Sony employee denying it is not credible evidence. If you instantly believe it, you are on board, a fanboy, in love.

That is not the only reason its done. Its also done as a safety net for the future as in weigh the pros and cons. When MS made fools of themselves, Sony saw overwhelmingly CONS. Now why on earth would they say " well we did file a patent in order to look further into this"? Maybe, but there is no evidence that they would be doing it down the line either. I don't see any reason for people to be attacking OP for this.

This tells me that as long as they were doing well, nothing would change:" All it did was make us come out and state very clearly 'the status quo has been good to us, consumers like the choice and the balance that achieves'," he concluded. "It wasn't a shift in strategy, it was just a feeling of a necessity to go out and communicate something that we just took advantage of."
