Good god Skyrim is such an awful game, the latest Final fantasy's are bad too don't get me wrong but Skyrim is also awful. Such a boring monotonous game filled with recycled content.

You just summed up pretty much every RPG out.... lots of grindy filler with cutscenes in between.

I guess you haven't played The Witcher series.

@finalstar2007: This is normal. Sony always meets up with Japanese developers. Now if you said they were meeting up with American developers, that would be news. Microsoft was doing the same thing at last years Tokyo Game Show. This is just great news all around. It means we'll be seeing more games on PS4 and XB1. I'm all for that.

Doubtful. This is CapCom we're talking about. DD1 sold a boatload on both platforms.

More games are always good

I'd say all the games you listed are made by developers who are not typical of Japanese game development, with perhaps the exception of From Software (I don't know much about their approach to design or corporate culture).

Nintendo is first and foremost defined by how Nintendo they are, rather than how Japanese they are.

Kojima Productions is one of the few Japanese studios that are technology driven; taking heavy cues from western style game development. Remember that this is the studio headed by a man who made an entire game decrying the hubric introspectiveness of the Japanese people; a message that feels strangely relevant to Japanese game development.

Capcom are also an atypical Japanese game developer/publisher; focusing heavily on cross-platform (including PC), cross-national games.

I have.... those games are more fetch quests than most RPGs.

I'm sure it's to talk about making games that appeal to the Japanese gamers.
