Sony concedes defeat with PS Vita

On the official Sony Twitter account, they sent out a tweet 'Portable Gaming Perfection' with a picture attached.

You'd expect this to be a picture of the Vita, maybe the Vita 2000, to promote their own portable handheld system, right?

Yep. Looks like even they've given up on their handheld. What a shame.

Looks more like advertising their upcoming tablet. Though it seems they didn't put much thought. It might come off as if the vita isn't the ideal way to play.

It was a failed concept that couldn't catch on on a market that has moved on to smartphones.

They should either re-design it or introduce a PlayStation "Phablet".

I hope they have some new games to show at the E3 for the PS Vita. I just purchased Persona 4 Golden off Amazon.com for $20. Still got to get Y's.

Wasn't there a topic created yesterday of MS releasing more of their tablet integration on the Xbox One? Because it'd make sense this would be Sony's tit-for-tat response to that, less to do with the Vita and more to do with the tablet integration with the PS4. One doesn't really need to abstractly look at announcements like this to know where the Vita stands.

Hope Sony can make a portable PS4 and reasonably priced with newer features, a few years from now.

It will be competing against a flurry of Full Windows 8 tablets that'll play multi-platform games around the X-1's graphical settings.

iOS/Android (Android device on the pic) will try to catch up as new multi-platform devices (Windows obviously ahead).

I recently picked up Injustice, and I may crack and get Amazing Spiderman discounted on PS+. Half of my game collection are PSP games though.

Oh wait, I do. And it's annoying as hell.

Also the DS3 doesn't have an annoying light, shorter battery life, or sticks that turn to dust after 30 hours of use.

I still cant find a PS4, so I only have limited time with the DS4, but I prefer the DS3 to be honest. 360 is still my favorite controller overall.

DS4 has great ergonomics, next to the cramped DS3.

Not according to some in the Who won second place thread. They say as long as the consoles are being made, the competition is going. If that's the case, when PSNow really gets going on tablet and PC PS3 might have the least exclusives. But I bet THEN, the gen will be over. If you get my meaning.

Both that Tablet and the Vita have far superior graphics.

Funny, the thing some complained about with the 360 controller, the batt pack in the way, is what feels strange to me on the X1 controller. Its not there, and I'm used to resting my fingers there. I like the X1 controller, but 360 is still my favorite. Although the Genesis with the curved design was like Newton getting hit on the head with the apple.

Well I disagree. The gen is over, or was over when WiiU began a new one, imo. And PS3 wasn't ahead of 360 at that point.

Ugh, The Vita got me into handheld gaming and now that i've had a taste it's over =(

Btw, that picture they posted looks terrible, uncomfortable, unfun, inconvenient, non-portable and expensive.

I also got Jeanne d Arc for PSP. That's what I love about PSP & 3DS. So much JRPG goodness.
