So I check my emails today. I have one of those:

Thank you for your purchase emails from Sony.

This is rather surprising to me since I DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING!

So I see what it is I have been charged for and it's music unlimited. An app I don't even use!

Anybody else had the same thing happen?

Did you use it for the 30 day free trial?
Cos if you did, it sets you to auto renewal after that 30 days runs out.
Pretty sure it does mention this though, you have to choose to not auto renew.

@doll94:

I guess I would have. I didn't realise that I would have been signed up for an auto renewal based on a free trial. I know they do this with PlayStation plus but that is something you have to subscribe to (even thoughhiding the fact that you have an automatic renewal is bs anyway).

Oh well if I don't get my refund I'm not buying another thing from Sony again and I have every console they ever released.

Anything that requires a credit/debit card to sign up usually has auto renewal unless otherwise stated.

I would call this a learning experiance.

Yeah, I remember the same thing happened to me in for the Xbox and Xbox Live.

You live and learn.

@SolidTy:

However surely automatic renewals are not something that you should be given. The customer/buyer should be given the option to make it automatic. Not just putting it there and hoping we don't notice.

I also do read this stuff because I don't trust companies like Microsoft or Sony at all.

@wiiboxstation: You are told that you are signed up for auto renewal. You can also turn it off. You're not forced into anything.

As other people said. This is a learning experience for you. Sony likely won't refund your money.

yeah, I learned this last gen when I finally realized I hadn't ever bought another card for Xbox Live since I initially bought a start up pack with my copy of Halo 2.

Auto-renewals on free trials are nothing new; in fact, they're fairly standard for any sort of subscription.

It would be ideal for them to send you an email to confirm whether you wanted to continue after the trial, but you can't really hold it against them for keeping with the standard practice.

Sorry TC, but you need to have 500 posts to create a thread on SW.
