January 24, 2006 - It looks like the SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs franchise will stay exclusive to the PlayStation family as Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that it has acquired Zipper Interactive, creators of the highly successful tactical shooter series. Based out of Redmond, Washington, Zipper's SOCOM series has been Sony's Ace in establishing widespread adoption of its PS2 Network Adapter and moving USB headsets into living rooms everywhere.
Though the deal doesn't actually come as much of a shocker, it does formally tie the companies into an exclusive development agreement for the remainder of human history. Zipper's day-to-day operations will continue to remain a part of SCE Worldwide Studios and continue to be co-directed from SCE WWS Foster City Studio.
"Zipper Interactive is one of the most well-known and respected development teams in the industry and we have enjoyed a great working relationship with the company since July 1999," said Phil Harrison, president, SCE Worldwide Studios. "Zipper's tremendous achievements and expertise in creating top-selling games with fantastically loyal online communities is a great addition to our development organization. We are delighted that Zipper Interactive is now a core member of the SCE Worldwide Studios network."

As a part of the Sony Computer Entertainment group we can look forward to introducing innovative titles that push online functionality and community experiences even further."

Name me one. i still yet to find a game on 360 that is better then SOCOM2 online. For crysake I play more socom then any game on xbl.... XBL is just too damn laggy now and in Vegas everybody plays Casino all the time and its getting pretty lame now...
