In your opinion, who had the better showing at Gamescom, and why? Who do you think made a better, more compelling case for their systems?

Well I well say Microsoft for dropping the Tomb raider bomb . other than that bother were pretty bland

#6 Posted by scottpsfan14 (5299 posts) -

I'd say Microsoft. More games that would appeal to the masses. But that said, BloodBorne and Rime look better than any Xbox game for me.

#7 Posted by Legend002 (7163 posts) -

The # of games I want on the PS4 went up.

The # of games I want on the Xbox One stayed the same.

That said, the Xbox One punched much harder.

#8 Posted by PhazonBlazer (11861 posts) -

Nintendo.

#9 Posted by FlamesOfGrey (7509 posts) -

Pretty even. Both consoles have a lot of good indie stuff coming. As far as the retail stuff only Bloodborne and Tomb Raider looked like something I would personally have an interest in playing.

Blodborne was awesome, and The Order surprised me. But, considering Quantum Break is one the big AAA budget games getting a proper gameplay reveal and TB turning exclusive, i have to give to MS.

But still a weak Gamescon. No BC announced, no meantion of PSnow prices, no Halo 5, UC4, Scalebound, BB only gets a trailer (hopefully some more footage is shown). Eh, nice i guess.

Still no real reason to get either console. Well, maybe MCC.

Sony: "We don't know how to make gameplay, so here's a few walking simulators instead."

I bet TB comes to PC but not PS4.

Just keeps showing PC + WiiU is all i need fo this gen. However, MS showed competition is great for the consumer.

MS if TR is an actual exclusive, neither really won if it's just a timed exclusive.

#19 Posted by EasyComeEasyGo (585 posts) -

MS Won and I vote them.

Now all we gotta do is wait for Tokyo Game Show to see Sony shine.

#20 Posted by Wasdie (49927 posts) -

Sony showed off tons of new, and really great looking game. None of them were just boring cover based shooters or military shooters.

Oh yeah I forgot, if it's not a linear corridor shooter with cutscenes that break up the game ever 5 minutes, System Wars thinks it's indie trash.

#21 Posted by ghostwarrior786 (4679 posts) -

ms by a fukin mile. also why is wasdie so butthurt? he almost sounds like damien, almost

#22 Posted by GrenadeLauncher (4921 posts) -

Close poll.

I still give it to Sony. Sony announced new games, MS recapped E3 and begged a lot.

What the fuck do you think Sony's been doing

#27 Edited by AdrianWerner (28058 posts) -

So far? Sony. They had great showing. Meanwhile Microsoft looks like they used everything they had on E3 and now just came completely unprepared. What's worse, this is just before they are laucnhing in most of European countries. Terrible.

That said, once GC starts for good PC will raise as easy winner of this years gamescom.

#28 Posted by Desmonic (14120 posts) -

Hmmmmmm... kinda hard to pick honestly.

MS showed more AAA games, but with the exception of ScreamRide (which I'd say is more on par with a bigger indie game than AAA material) and maybe one or another indie, it was all games we already knew about. Good games sure, but more of the same essentially. I like the AC trailer, Ori, Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break. Also White Xbox was cool.

Sony showed a bunch of cool games (IMO). Bloodborne, Wild, Alienation, Hellblade (which has me intrigued by the protagonist alone), Volume (which is essentially a game based on MGS2's stealth system and VR missions), The Tomorrow Children.... DayZ on the PS4 could be pretty big too. Of course most of these are indie type games or something in between (bigger than indies but not quite AAA productions). The SharePlay thing was cool.

I dunno.. I think as far as the actual press conference goes, MS had a better flow (Sony showed 3-4 games in a row which was confusing at times, leaving little time for devs to talk) but I think Sony showed more games in the end.

You should have a "both" option bro :P

#29 Posted by ReadingRainbow4 (14111 posts) -

Sony actually showed some interesting new games, so I'll go with that.

#30 Posted by gago-gago (9486 posts) -

Sony didn't have one megaton like MS did plus Sony's audio and video production team were at their worst again so MS got this round.

Don't Believe the HYPE. Don't buy into the PR.

CVG pushed for clarification on whether it was solely an Xbox One exclusive, or just timed like Titanfall was on the console before heading to PC and Xbox 360.

“We’re saying what we said on stage,” said Spencer. “In Holiday 2015, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox. That’s the comment."

----

There you have it from the Head of Xbox's mouth. SE owns the IP to TR, what do you think they are going to do with their IP after the time runs out on the NDA? How do these 3rd party deals play out in the Xbox past (RYSE, Alan Wake, Dead Rising, etc)? It's all about the NDA. All we are allowed to know for sure is that in Holiday 20155, it's an Xbone game. It seems the other versions will be shelved until 2016.

What the fuck do you think Sony's been doing

Yup.

Grim Fandango and No Man's Sky still don't have an xb1 version announced, and that pc version was kept quiet for a while.

Exclusive content for the PS4, and xb1, everywhere for lots of games. Including betas and shit

Bloodborne, even if Sony Japan is involved, could have easily been developed as a next gen multiplat, since, you know, DaS on the 3 platforms was what made them so popular.

it's still a a dick move from MS, but Sony isn't better.

My point was, if M$ is so willing to buy the exclusivity to TB, it shows they're ready to try and make a comeback and improve their sales. Same exact thing happened with Sony after the PS3 launch.

Compeition does hurt the consumer aswell, but it also helps it.

#35 Edited by WitIsWisdom (3786 posts) -

I have not watched MS's yet, but if it was as bad as PS4's... then I vote NEITHER. horrible... just horrible... who wants to play those games? Only two games that looked any good were Metal Gear and Wild (which I think the guy talking about the game called WINE...?).... disgusting.

#36 Posted by cainetao11 (17599 posts) -

Pretty even. I liked a few things they both showed.

If I didn't have any of these consoles and I watched this, my money would go to the Xbox One because they actually had bundles for sale announced. The only thing Sony was trying to sell were subscriptions and a reason not to buy a Vita.
