I know I speak for Nintendo fans...if there's any left out there, that this ranking is 100% accurate. The SNES goes on top cuz it has to be up there cuz everyone always seems to have a throbbing hard-on for it for some reason. Next is the N64, which, and let's not kid ourselves, SHOULD be at the top but at the risk of rustling people's jim jams I put it second. NES is 3rd simply cuz of Mario 3 and the staying power the system had I mean it was competing against a 16-bit console for crying out loud. Wii U is next cuz it has a lot of gr8 games and more to come. Then comes GC which is just about the most overrated Nintendo console of all time with the worst controller ever made. Wii shouldn't even be on this list, because it's literally cancer and there is no place for cancer in gaming.

As a Nintendo fan, that's one of the worst rankings I've ever seen, and you speak for no one besides your dumb self.

And GameCube "the most overrated Nintendo console of all time"? Looking at the sales and the majority of threads made on forums that gen, I'd say the GC is vastly underrated. Vastly. Plus, the GC controller is easily one of the best controllers made of all time, and worked perfectly for GC games.

Wii U sucks though, where as the Wii is actually good.

I do believe the Wii had a good virtual console for everything older than GC, and it was BC with GC. Although there is no GC BC on Wii u I do believe the system's exclusives themselves compensate just fine so I'd say wiiu>Wii>SNES>gc>n64>nes. I am a huge fan of the SNES also.

In terms of Nintendo hardware power relative to competition.

SNES > GC > NES -> N64 -> Wii -> Wii U

SNES > N64 > GCN > NES > Wii > Wii U for me

Of course, when it comes to Nintendo, handhelds kick console ass, so this discussion is quite pointless.

Look at how much it sold. It has to be the most UNDERRATED Nintendo console of all time. It had an excellent library (Wind Waker, Smash Bros, Twilight Princess, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion, Eternal Darkness, Resi 4 to name A FEW) and the controller wasn't by any means "the worst controller ever made." That title goes to N64 (what the **** is up with the three hands thing?)

@mjorh: a lot of it has to do with the more casual approach they took with it. Not that casual is bad but it just isn't popular with say a person going on a game board (like GameSpot) because they like games.

I got it on the midnight release because I wanted to play twilight princess. I beat the game and everything was great until I started noticing junkware from left to right and having a hard time trying to get decent game without it being first party. I never had that problem with other game systems, even the Wii U's library looks better and it hasn't been out long because it doesn't have focus on games like wii sport or crap like jenga/fishing games.

So i guess it's a good entry point for me, since it's much cheaper than Wii U i was wondering i could start with that then move onto NX ....And when it comes to Nintendo consoles i'm a casual.

I have a hard time choosing between the SNES and the N64 as my favorite console. I had more fun with the N64 during it's time than any other console ever, but since it was early 3D technology, a lot of N64 games have not aged very well, whereas SNES games are still as fun to play today as they were 20 years ago.

I think the Wii U has delivered the most fun games on a Nintendo console since the N64 so it is definitely 3rd on my list.

I think the Gamecube has a few more of my favorite games than the NES does.

The Wii is definitely my least favorite Nintendo console since I feel that waggle controls ruined a lot of games.

So I think my list would be:

SNES >= N64 > Wii U > Gamecube > NES >>> Wii

The motion/ pointer controls have already aged really badly, and will continue to. The only games I find enjoyment in on the Wii anymore are Mario Galaxy and RE4.

WiiU has a few solid games, NES has the Marios and a few other great games, N64 is amazing, GC is the best multiplayer console, and SNES is just the best

Yeah, GC had two of my favorite games of all time, Resident Evil Code Veronica and Skies of Arcadia Legends. It also implemented the camera stick, which was ground breaking for me, i love that dang controller and still use it on my Wii U. And i bought one of them Wii U Fight Pads, im addicted, ive been using it to play Xenoblade Chronicles as we speak.

You don´t speak for Nintendo fans. The Wii is a much better system than all of those simply because you can play all the games of all those systems in the Wii plus the GBA games. My Wii does that.

Most people will bounce between snes and n64. SNES technically should take it everytime. I just have too many good memories with n64.

Why the NES so low ? It had so many classic, started series like Super Mario Bros and Zelda, It's legacy still lives on today.

I personally also rate it lower than the others as I never had one. Still Wii will always be last for me. Right behind the virtual boy

@R4gn4r0k: I rate it low because I never got around to playing it until after the N64 era, after I had been exposed to SNES and N64, and the NES felt hopelessly dated by then. I have no personal attachment or connection to the console, and all I see when I see the NES is something that is mostly unplayable today.
