Why does this need to stop? Wait for a drop or not get it at all. You either buy it or you don't.

Why Sleeping Dogs? Why? Really why this game? It's not a bad game, just, why does SD need an HD port?

I'm starting to think we should take bets on the next game to be remastered.

My bet would be Hitman Absolution. That's the last game in Squares sales failure trio that hasn't had a "Definitive Edition" announced.

Wait has the Uncharted series remaster been officially announced yet? Naughty Dog can't let Square out remaster them!

Not yet, but if TLOU R i sucessfull, i bet that atleast Sony will want it. If A Thief's End is the last game, bringing a collection to help players catch up in the series is a perfect move. Same thing happened with God of War and is now happening with Halo.

Honestly, i would love the idea considering it would a 3 for 1 game pack. Great value IMO. But, considering they already ported TLOU, i'd be abit annoyed by the idea at this point.

Good, more people need to play this game.

Vote with your dollars people.

I bought Tomb Raider DE on PS4 because I had a gift card and only paid $30 for it. I just picked up The Last of Us on PS4 because I got it for "free" with two trades. I would never have spent the full asking price for these as I already had them on PS3.

I'm getting mixed messages here.

Vote with your wallet, telling people to not buy them

And then you tell us you did buy them.

Why does this need to stop? It's not the usual anti-consumer stuff, they're just porting games to a new system, what's so wrong with that?

Don't want it don't buy it.

Personally i'd rather companies were doing this than shitty DLC or season passes or locking out the online on used games etc. Contract a company to port the PC version over, maybe add a few features, new people get to experience it and it tops up the bank to help with the rising costs of development of next gen games. Especially with Squeenix, who wouldn't surprise me if they go under atm.

#55 Edited by Telekill (4405 posts) -

@R4gn4r0k: Not meant to give mixed signals. It's a broad statement. It's to mean, do whatever the hell you want. Buy what you like, but if you don't think this is a good practice then don't buy them. I for one find that some of the games are great to offer but not at full retail prices.

#56 Posted by Snugenz (11818 posts) -

Wake me when mass effect trilogy gets the update. That's about the only last gen game I'm interested in seeing a Definitive Edition for atm.

Side note, if these publishers are focusing assets on buffing last gen ganes instead of developing new ip I think it's a bloody shame.

Ahem, plus there's plenty of HD mods for both ME2 and ME3 aswell. And i'm talking 4096 textures that you likely wouldn't get in an official remaster.

remaking old games for next gen potatoes because they have nothing else to play

#58 Edited by musicalmac (22912 posts) -

@musicalmac: unfair comparisson... sleeping dogs vs gta4? SD is a competent open world game with pretty decent combat, GTA4 is a steaming pile of twice baked crap.

lolol... my mistake. :D

#59 Edited by ShepardCommandr (2429 posts) -

$60??

#60 Posted by handssss (1825 posts) -

Meh. Remake or remaster True Crime LA and NYC and package them together for a fair price. I'd actually buy that.

#61 Posted by PannicAtack (21021 posts) -

This is what happens when you ditch backwards compatibility. Companies start to simply repackage things from last year and charge full price for them.

#62 Posted by Terrencec06 (3464 posts) -

Yay! another port. This kinda port I don't like.

#63 Posted by cfisher2833 (1585 posts) -

Not surprising at all. Just about every game which utilized significantly higher quality assets for its PC version will eventually be ported over to the next gen consoles. There's no reason not to.

#64 Edited by magicalclick (22459 posts) -

No for me. Got it free on XBL and it wasn't that great anyway.

#65 Posted by Doolz2024 (9604 posts) -

$60 for a two year old game.

I paid $1 for the PC version on Amazon a while back; the actual definitive version of the game.

#66 Posted by farrell2k (5811 posts) -

I am so glad I returned my ps4. I couldn't imagine being stuck with only remakes from last gen that I already played.

#67 Posted by foxhound_fox (87754 posts) -

Thank you based Sony and Microsoft gods for removing our backwards compatibility and giving us lowly peasants the opportunity to rebut all our games again! We are not worthy!

Shouldnt stop. Should continue

Or how about getting the game now at a much cheaper price?

@musicalmac: I got it on steam for like eight bucks just haven't fired it up yet. Is it that fun?

As for the topic, this wont stop. Because people buy them. And I knew this was the new thing last gen when GoW collection came out. I could understand the upgrade from sd to HD.

I was fortunate enough to get it for free with Xbox Live Gold. I couldn't get past four hours of GTA4, but I played every ounce of Sleeping Dogs. Truly.

just to pile on SD is a great game. The most fun i had in an open world game since Just cause 2. Interesting story, great melee combat, excellent video and audio presentation, lots of interesting side missions ( and not just the same 3 side missions been repeated over and over like other games ) and even the driving model is freaking great. Also one of the rare times i actually finished the main story of an open world game

Let alone is a great pc port with every option you come to expect from a proper pc game and excellent performance

#71 Posted by hrt_rulz01 (5800 posts) -

I'd consider buying it if it's the right price and also depending what else is out at the time... I did really enjoy it.

#72 Posted by MonsieurX (29569 posts) -

Shouldnt stop. Should continue

Yes,plz more games on the PS4

#73 Posted by HalcyonScarlet (4047 posts) -

This is getting silly now.

I see no reason for ports from last gen. Minor graphical upgrade and if you missed out on games last gen, I think there's enough on last gen consoles to warrant picking them up.

#74 Posted by Shinobishyguy (22424 posts) -

This generation = last gens sloppy seconds

#75 Edited by HalcyonScarlet (4047 posts) -

No for me. Got it free on XBL and it wasn't that great anyway.

I just remembered about that, and I still haven't got around to playing it.

#76 Edited by lawlessx (46564 posts) -

great..now developers are remastering games that nobody cares about..

This gen is really off to a poor start.

lol port-gen.

I feel like a fool, got a next gen console and all I see are multiplats, indie games and ports of last gen games. And none of these show significant advancements that make it worth while.

#79 Posted by marcheegsr (2522 posts) -

This games should be $40 to be honest. Its a great game though.

im abit of a hypocrite since im planning on getting an xbox one for the halo collection, but right now i see nothing that is really showing me what these consoles can do in terms of game play

#81 Posted by silversix_ (14085 posts) -

This is just sad with all of these HD ports like really? Instead of releasing sleeping dogs 2 we're getting the same game twice, sick story bro.

#82 Posted by getyeryayasout (7182 posts) -

Great game, but like others have pointed out, it's enough with the remakes/remasters already. They should include this remake with the sequel, whenever that comes out.

Forza 5 shows vastly better gameplay physics and physics effects over Forza 4, even if the graphics aren't particularly next gen. I'm having a lot of fun trying to beat my Nuremberg + GP lap time right now. Off topic but what I love about that track is that it's a little more about how much balls you have with the narrow roads, tons of corners and 16M track to get through, so a few mistakes can end it. Also the drivatar ai is a lot of fun.

But the Halo Collection is a touch different imo, because it has Halo 2 which is an older game so it's worth while. Plus Halo 2 and 3 are the most fun imo.

KI is good but you need an arcade stick, I'm not an arcade stick player, so until a Street Fighter pad comes to the X1, the game is about as useful as a chocolate teapot to me.

I would recommend you wait until at least the end of the year before you buy into next gen, I wish I had. Fanboys will tell you otherwise, but the PS4 and X1 really are running on hype right now. It was a good first year on the 360. You had some 1st party, 3rd party console games and also a lot of welcome PC ports. This gen it's just a Sahara games drought.

#86 Edited by GhoX (4801 posts) -

Devs make remasters because they cost vastly less compared to building games from ground up, yet they sell just as well. What incentive is there to NOT make definitive editions when consolites buy them like hotcakes?

Somehow, upgrading hardware to make ALL your games look prettier doesn't sound nearly as bad as upgrading ALL your games to definitive editions by buying the game twice.

#87 Posted by gago-gago (9354 posts) -

Meh, already have the disc version and the free Games with Gold digital version but I don't have any of the DLCs. Really good game but I'll pass on this one. Good for those who missed out, I think it's better than Watch_Dogs lol. I hope they do Saints Row 4 next for $40 buck tops for the current consoles though. At this point there's no stopping this. If it gives devs income to make new games and give gamers more selection, I guess it's not all that bad.

#88 Posted by NoirLamia777 (2132 posts) -

I'm fine with these, as I missed this game in particular, price is a bit high though.

#89 Posted by darkangel115 (1509 posts) -

I hear they are making an atari ET game remastered for next gen. 1080p/60fps and 60 bucks (plus DLC and micro transactions)

#90 Posted by Shewgenja (8488 posts) -

The publishers were not ready for Gen 8. The industry was convinced that they would flop and everyone would be playing on mobile and tablets. This is not the end of the last-gen ports. You won't see a lot of the actual new gen 8 games til E3 next year.

It is what it is.

#91 Edited by Doozie78 (169 posts) -

Doesn't sound like it's worth it. I grabbed it for a massive $5 on the better system and I still can't be bothered to play it.

Not that this is a bad game but, I dunno...this one just seems unecessary.

#92 Edited by faizan_faizan (7849 posts) -

I wouldn't be surprised if this "Definitive Edition" ends up looking worse than the PC version.

#93 Edited by AmazonAngry (945 posts) -

@MonsieurX: Yes,plz more games on the PS4"

Have you finally caught your breath after running from me, and my success, in the other thread? Do not run from success, child. Pursue it. :->

#94 Posted by blangenakker (2236 posts) -

Ports are good for those who haven't played the game.

#95 Posted by biggest_loser (24030 posts) -

What the hell has happened to this industry?

#96 Posted by Mr_Huggles_dog (688 posts) -

While I think this is just a money grab like the Tomb Raider definitive edition thing....I'm sure there are ppl out there that will buy it and get use out of it.

#97 Posted by santoron (7692 posts) -

Already played so not for me. Anyone who skipped it the first time around might want to take a second look. I thought the game was a lot of fun.

As for all the chicken littles in the thread...you know what, nevermind. You guys should know better by now. If you wanna pretend this is killing gaming or preventing new games from appearing, knock yourselves out.
