Silent Hill is coming back (rumor)

So according to this rumor Silent Hill is going to make a grand return with not one, not two but three (!) upcoming games:

• Silent Hill 2 Remake developed by Bloober Team
• Smaller Silent Hill title by Annapurna Interactive (episodic short stories)
• New mainline Silent Hill game

Personally I don't believe a lick of this rumor because Konami no longer makes games. But that's just me.

oh boy! get to see one of my favorite games turned into a walking simulator with a first-semester-art-school level story.

Well you can blame Konami for firing half their developers and treating the remaining half like dirt, who else is left to make horror games?

With all the remakes and remasters spam we're getting, i only believe the SH2 remake.

Interesting. I did enjoy Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3. Kind of drifted away from the franchise after that. Am interested in seeing how all three of those rumoured games turn out if this is true.

Silent Hill fans have had their hearts broken so many times it doesn't even hurt anymore.

It's alright, sequels are basically remakes too at this point.

Silent Hill was teased during the VGA 2021 by Guillermo del Toro which I assume everyone forgot about it. I swear, both Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro are up to something. My heart can't take it!

But Kojima would never work for Konami again. I wouldn't mind both Konami and Kojima making a horror game simultaneously though.

It was revealed last year that Blooper Team partnered with Konami, one could easily deduce Silent Hill as the most likely IP they will get their hands on considering Blooper Team's game history with games like Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, and Observer. This seems very specific though, maybe it is true, but we seem to get lots of rumors that circulate seemingly on nothing more than people hoping they can manifest them into reality if they can get people to believe them, and they just end up as nothing more than wishful thinking.

The botched SH collection was a pretty bad one, which followed the complete dissolving of Team Silent, preceding the franchise being given to devs who had very little to no idea idea of what made the originals so good. Then nothing for years. Then Kojima; then no Kojima, Silent Hills cancelled. Then Konami trying to wipe P.T. from the universe. Then some really solid rumors that turned into ash. Then more rumors; and more; and more. Getting trolled by devs, literally. The list goes on. Sprinkle in other older horror franchises like Resident Evil getting a ton of love, and SH getting...pachinko machines...and, yeah, you get the picture.

Personally SH3 is my favorite, as I love the main character, Heather. So the top pic is the most heartbreaking thing of all for me. Bottom pic is the basic truth of the matter.

@wandering_halls: I completely feel you man. There is something worse than a game franchise dying, and that is being trolled by devs.

Konami is the worst, and that is why I shit on them all the time. I do not take pleasure in this. If you abandon AAA game development in order to focus on pachinko machines, mobile games and one of the worst F2P games ever made... You basically lost all worth you could have as a company. You can't even provide fun to peoplew you are a failure of a company.

I see people seem to be more of the mindset Konami is a swirling toilet and this will only disappoint. Jeez. Don't get me wrong, lots working against it, Blooper Team for instance is a wild card by themselves. That being said yes certainly lots working against the game but I can only hope that should a Konami-Blooper partnership produce a Silent Hill game than all I can hope for is the best on that. What gives me hope is for right now (as far as we know) they're not juggling multiple games. Something that concerned me when they did that for Layers of Fear 2 alongside Blair Witch, and the Observer Redux alongside The Medium. I think if they can focus on one game and just one game we may see them at their best... or, well I at least hope that's the case.

I'm in a love hate relationship with Bloober, at times I really like their games, at times I hate them.

They are at their worst when there style of horror is just LOUD NOISES in your face, and just like the horror genre itself they are their best when it's true psychological dread.

The Medium was their most recent game and their best game so far. If they can keep this trend going I can absolutely see them take the helm of a long dead franchise.

Yeah, I mean, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but a new game, spinoff, and remake? Hmmm. Where have I heard something like that before? (in all fairness the hd collection was a glorified remaster, but still...this trio didn't turn out so hot, to say the least)

I would like to see Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3 remade. Two was my favorite, followed by 3, then 1. All three of them were amazing for their time though. So much creepier than what Resident Evil was doing.

I feel a lot of PS2 era games could do with a remake. A lot of those games are often locked behind one console, or a lot were locked to either PC or console, stuff like that.

So many interesting titles to pick from.
