Sony doesn't seem to do FPS games well, and in an era cluttered by dozens of FPS games, more just aren't needed.
They can't undermine Halo (only Halo, with it's string of sequels each lowering in quality, has).

They should leave FPS. If i want my FPS fix i go to BF and COD which are far better games than Killzone.
I'm not a fan of the FPS genre. They should leave Resistance behind completely. Maybe another couple Killzone games over the years as that's their flagship FPS series. Other than that, give us exclusives in other genres.
Resistance ended with 3.
And if you ask me....... I would love another Resistance game, but Insomniac has gone multiplat (they were never 1st party but you know what I mean).
On topic.
Sony doesnt have many FPS so IDK where TC is coming from. KZ is the only FPS franchise right now. Last gen they just had Haze, MAG, Resistance and KZ.
And what is people's logic of "they'll never top Halo so they shouldnt make any FPS". You dont have to top Halo to reach success.
I just freaking hate twitch wave after wave shooters, couldn't finish KZ2 no matter how pretty it was. I want a dang story to make me feel like shooting all these funny talking super pale or super tan people is justified. Maybe I have to rescue a girl? Maybe I was working for them and found out they are bad? I can't accept because Uncle Sam in a game anymore. I want stats, progression, customization, and a freaking reason to keep shooting these dudes. This gen Bio Shock, Mass Effect, Binary Domain, Deus Ex, and Far Cry gave me that, reading down my steam list. I forget where I was going with this, but if they give me an intriguing scenario and gameplay I will buy it.
*Edit - I liked Resistance 1, couldn't finish 2, loved 3.
Yes, GG abandon KZ and go for a third person game, it would be interesting to see them do an RPG.
Its rumored that the new ip GG's 2nd team is working on is an RPG.
Sony only makes 2 FPS franchises. They have variety across multiple genres.
Would like to see them make some more RPG's though, that's the one area they are lacking. Open world Demon's Souls 2 please?
Actually I don't even care about genre, I would like to see Sony make more open world games this gen period. There SHOULD be more open worlds this coming gen, but so far it's just Infamous.
Pretty sure Sony's already been cutting back on FPS's. Killzone is really the only PlayStation FPS franchise that is still alive and the developers is working on a new IP which is most likely not a FPS.
Sony doesn't really do FPSs besides Killzone. Insomniac made Resistance and it sucked but that's not Sony's fault. Anyhow, it's not like Sony is going to tell third parties not to make games for their system, and many of the PS4's FPSs will be from outside studios and publishers.
I'd like to see them cut down on shooter tropes in general. Kiilzone, Resistance, Uncharted... They already have Killzone again and are planning to release another shooter IP called the Order 1886. I wish the shooter craze would just mellow for a bit across the board not just with Sony.
Last gen there was too many fps i have grown tired of them would like to see them try something else. It reminds me of the survival horror fad
I didn't like any of the Killzone games but I thought that the first 2 Resistance games were really good, especially their multiplayer. R2's co-op was terrific and very innovative. I was hoping for Insomniac to expand on it on Resistance 3 but for listening so much to the haters they only ended up ruining the franchise. To me Resistance 3 was a piece of garbage that started decently but ended up as pure excrement and even ruined the multiplayer to make it more like COD's because of hater's feedback . They dropped the incredible co-op, the 64 player count, etc.
Resistance had crazy weapons, interesting setting and not to mention the atmosphere... It was sooo good like an horror game. Why people say they are bad games while praising garbage like Killzone is something I'll never understand but I call that awful taste for games.
I think the problem with the Resistance franchise was that it came in a time when everybody was on-board of the PS3's hate train and they didn't want to give it a chance. But honestly, Resistance franchise was very good.
These were fun times and I miss them sooo much: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_p4LyNc7ME ;(
I wouldn't mind another KZ game, as long as it takes inspiration from kz2 (which is an awesome and unique Fps, best in the genre during the last gen IMHO). I believe they tried to do too many things in KZSF, almost to the point where it loses it's own identity.
Yes. Resistance and MAG are done anyway. SOCOM is done too, I imagine. Although not an FPS. Killzone will keep going but GG have three seperate teams so I'm OK with that. Their new IP is supposed to be some form of RPG. If Sony must do another shooty-type game the best thing they can do is bring back Syphon Filter. I've been saying that for fucking years.

I can tell you many things that make Resistance unique but what makes Killzone unique? All I can think about is that is has no aim assist.
I wish the entire industry would move away from the oversaturation of FPS's. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy CoD as much as the next guy, but in my opinion gaming has been hurt a bit from the twitch nature/quick satisfaction of FPS's. I feel as though most gamers including myself have developed a sort of A.D.D. when it comes to gaming. I think more games like Ryse, Infamous, Mario, Zelda, The Order 1886, Uncharted and Quantum Break are a very good thing.
Everyone needs to cut back on FPS games
Not necessarily give up on first person, or first person shooter.
But for the love of god the industry needs to stop with the 4-5 hour LINEAR cinematic shooter, with CoD clone multiplayer. THAT is the issue, much more than whether the game is 1st person or 3rd person.
At least with Uncharted the games are still in the 8-12 hours. Hopefully the new one is at least a pseudo open-world style.
Would love to see Sony finally due a proper SOCOM style game with a wide-open battlefield and more tactical gameplay. How awesome would it be to have a 10+ hour mission based game, that you could play solo or 4 or 8 player co-op. Solo you could just control your squad via a more complex command system (which might actually work with the PS4 touch pads). SOCOM 4 actually was pretty smooth and functional 3rd person shooter, but it was pretty much dumbed down to the max and no longer tactical. Just because Zipper is dead, doesn't mean the franchise is dead. Just keep Slant Six away from it LOL.

Between Cod, Battlefield, Destiny (Maybe) and Titanfall (Maybe) etc. why do we even want another FPS? I mean yeah it's cool to have an exclusive killer IP I guess, but the best FPS's are multiplat.
Sony's strong point is for sure not FPS, is it? Killzone 2 was pretty great, then Killzone 3 was a step backwards, and KZ:SF is a pretty mediocre game in general. My fav Resistance game is 3, which most people seem to like that the least who like the series in general.
@Gue1: what sets it apart (to me) is that it's not the casual twitch, floaty shooter like the rest of them (includes resistance). Being good at the game requires actual skill, in that it's "heavier", and realistic regarding movement, teamwork is of the essence... and ofc no aim assist. The guns may seem uninspired, but the "feel" of them is brilliant, along with the overall design and animations. KZ2 was the peak of FPS gaming for me during last gen. Might not be the cup of tea for everyone, and it's definitely an acquired taste, but you're patient and willing to learn how to play it, then you're in for a treat. No wonder it scored 9 on GS + shooter of the year, and 91 on MC. I'm disappointed that GG went more casual with the later games, to appease the COD crowd... They truly had something. This is all IMO ofc.
