What you think?

On one hand, they would make the console profitable and could make a bundle for 250$ with no game (perhaps bundle with a "demo disk"), on the other they would loose the main attraction of the system, compared to other systems.

Would such a move make the system more attractive to you?

It may have dropped the price by $30 or so. Nothing too significant.

lol dropping the pad would drop the price by how much? $100? You're kidding, right?

KungfuKitten

Well the GamePad costs about 80$ to make...

I assume the pro pad is 20$ to make or so.

Then the Wii U loses its identity, why would you buy a console that has nothing to distinguish itself from its competitor. Smartglass for the Xbox One should tell that Nintendo was on the mark for off-screen play.

They should drop the entire wiiu system is what they should do.

But yes, dropping the tablet and replacing it with a pro pad and then dropping the price of the system to reflect the lack of tablet and it would be a good start.

But lets face it the online gaming on the wiiu is awful and the worst of all their competitions online setups, it has no good games, 3rd party support sucks, all nintendo does is make excuses for its poor performance, the price is too high, the system isnt even powerful enough to do online co-op in pikimin 3 for christs sake, and well, its a very troubled system that needs to take a note from old yeller.

If you dont like them then maybe you shouldnt read them. Yet you force yourself to read them simply so you can complain about them? Wouldnt your time be better spent focusing on things that make you happy instead of forcing yourself into things that make you unhappy?

Honestly, no. No matter how much people say they want it, it'll make the system sell even worse in the long run. Wii U pad makes the thing stick out. Take that away and, well you're pretty much asking Nintendo to fail more.

you cant play with the tv off.....there is no screen to utilize all the features of games on the wiiU..you cant type as good without the screen and stylus.

your basically downgrading in everything. except comfort if your hands are smaller?

They're dropping the 3D from the 3DS in its newest iteration, so why not? The tablet doesn't improve gameplay in any meaningful way, and if it means a ~$200 sku, I'm all for it.

Yes and drop the price to 199.99 since you have gotten rid of the most expensive (and useless) part of the console.  I am sick of Nintendo adding in worthless gimmicks that solely exist just to lure in casuals.  I just want a regular controller to play Mario, Zelda and Metroid Prime.

Terrible graphics don't bother me since my computer is a decade ahead of all consoles.  I just care about the exclusive games.

Worst idea ever. There are many many problems with the Wii U but the gamepad isn't one of them. I love the gamepad and if the Wii U didn't have it I never would have bothered buying one in the first place. There wouldn't be any point.

Can games like NintendoLand or W101 even be played without the gamepad? It would also be impossible to draw anything on miiverse.

The Wii U was kind of designed around the gamepad. Whether you like the design or not, trying to get rid of the gamepad is probably not the way to go with the Wii U.

The pro controller sucks so the gamepad should stay. Nintendo should make a beefier console that should have launched with skyward sword with no dumb motion plus controls.

they won't do that... if anything they'll probably try to push the gamepad even more by making a fully functional gamepad game.

They should, and then patch all the games to support the pro pad. Make the current pad an accessory and keep supporting off-screen play. Then drop the console price to $199, and release a damn good Metroid game.

The gamepad is required for the OS.OreoMilkshake

This.

Besides, the best features of the Wii U are Miiverse and off tv play. Both of those require the gamepad.

That's too difficult for Nintendo. Remember, this is the same company that "haven't solved the unified digital account problem yet". The thing that other companies ( MS, Sony, Apple, etc etc) solved a long time ago SMH.

No.

Maybe that's why they haven't figured it out yet, while the others did because they are familiar with other tech and have been for years.

Maybe...maybe not. I just don't understand how you release a console in 2012 with accounts tied to hardware. Maybe Nintendo really is full of people that are way behind the times.
