I don't care if an NPC can open doors or not, it doesn't matter to me either way. That isn't proof the game is bad, it's just that guys opinion on why the game is bad, which is a really silly argument honestly.

"Oh no NPC open doors" who honestly cares?

Yo' chill guys. We all know Call of Duty is just an annual game with each release being nothing more than a few online tweaks to please those desperate hitting-puberty 14 year old kids. There's only one way to settle this; get that petition out for Half Life 3.

Or play something else.

I find it funny (and sad) that a person wasted their time making a stupid youtube video to hate on COD. They clearly care more about the game than we COD guys do because the haters talk more about it than everyone else. The fact that they made such a video speaks volumes about them, and not in a good way. That video seems like a desperate attempt at someone trying to justify their purchase.

And you should play COD on veteran, you'll get your ass kicked. And there are some parts of the game where you do open doors, you breach and clear them. I don't see the point of the video, there were no arguments. It was just some guy shooting at a bunch of bottles and then picking up a plant. Woohoo who honestly cares about that?

Or maybe they just like COD?

I have a 360, I could play Halo 4 if I wanted to. I am not the biggest Halo fan, it's multiplayer is ok but I find it's campaigns to be very mediocre this gen and it's gameplay is not up to par with other shooters out there. I don't see how anyone could honestly give 2 sh!ts about Master Chief or Cortana or just the Halo story period. Not talking about the books, just the games themselves, MC is a dull and shallow character and has zero personality.

But this is just my opinion, I hope the game does well for the Halo fans. But I have lost interest with Halo this gen, it is not the giant it once was. For me I like COD better because I find it to be a more complete package and an overall superior game. Only downside is that the MW games have short campaigns, but they are still better quality than Halo.

I have always liked COD, I liked it since COD 2 on 360. I just didn't talk about it much on here because SW community is so stupid when it comes to people that like COD, it's pointless because you just get a bunch of stupid anti-social losers who go "COD sucks and you are a casual noob".

But after seeing Black Ops 2 my jaw hit the floor. It looks really good. Like best shooter ever made good. It has it all, a great campaign with multiple endings and player choice, some sanbox gameplay, a whole new class system, lot's of multiplayer content, and of course Zombies! But this time a zombie campaign and an open world zombie mode with up to 8 players. How can you ask for more? It has literally everything.

What's funny though is the haters say "COD never changes" but thenn Black Ops 2 makes some big changes and the haters say "COD just sucks, these games are better". They can't please you no matter what they do, you just hate COD because it's popular and you are not. The game doesn't even have kill streaks anymore. Is that a big change enough for ya?

As for the topic, No I do not think CoD should die, but they should give longer dev cycles to the games, 2 years clearly ain't enough, since it has moved very little since CoD4, yet releasing a yearly game (which most of the time felt more like exp packs). As for BlOPS2 I hold my reservation for when it is out, I tend to not judge on hype, but as someone who has not played a CoD since Cod1 (does not really seem like my kind of game), the Blops 2 info sofar seems more inline with what I would play.

The only thing I can honestly say against CoD has nothing to do with the game, but rather the way it is made and the publisher behind it so *shrug* Objectively CoD itself is fine, it was not made to be the most ballanced game in existence, and it certainly aint the best ever made.

I would have preferred a longer dev cycle, and more time to avoid fatigue and negative credit from alot of sides of the community. Making longer, deeper, and overall more polish (outside of setpieces). I am fairly certain they could have done the above fairly easy given just a bit more then 2 years.

No I like Call of Duty, especially Black Ops 2. It is making some big changes to the series, I think it will end up being something special.

Supply and demand, people demand more COD, Activision gives it. If this is what keeps the fans happy then what's the big problem? If you don't like COD just don't buy the damn games then. Really COD haters are all hypocryites, they all play COD.

They just pretend to hate it on here to try to fit in with the anti-social, bottom of the barrel fringe community that thinks it makes them cool to "hate" the popular stuff.

ShadowMoses900
its just as stupid to generalize all the people who hate the game like you're doing. I never buy it for full price, I don't hate it but don't praise it. I've enjoyed the campaign mode and spec ops. The market determines what needs to die. Not individuals. CoD will die eventually.

I want it to die. But it won't die. It shouldn't die.

#77 Posted by Warhawk_ (1497 posts) -

I think the series needs to take a long break and actually be refreshing again. I stopped playing COD games after MW2 since that game was bad and knew as of right now the later games after it would be the same. I have seen the entire gameplay footage of Black Ops and MW3 and they both look boring and rehashing a lot of stuff from the previous games. But as long as people keep buying them it will keep on coming.

finalstar2007

This isn't something selfish. If Call of Duty dies, it's for the good of the gaming industry.

Call of Duty is the manifestation of almost everything wrong with the gaming industry today.

Every sequel is a rehash of the last game, they make next to no effort making each entry in the series different. Playing MW3 feels exactly the same as playing MW2. You can't tell the games apart.

It's gotten to be like Madden now. Every year they make a new game that doesn't differ very much from the last game. Maybe there are a few tweaks here and there. But that's only ok when it comes to sports games. (Even then it's pretty obnoxious.)

Modern Warfare 1 was a notable leap forward, but the game has made absolutely NO advancements since then.

They rely on realistic graphics and cinematic effects to sell their games. So even if their games don't feel different, they'll still captivate people with their impressive technical achievements. But that's not enough to make their games fun.

So many developers are following Call of Duty by example. So that's why it'd be good for everyone of CoD would just die.

[QUOTE="Dj-Dampleaf"]

Putting Mr. Kotick and Activision aside, I believe that Call of Duty should die. But let me explain just in case their may be CoD fanboys here. First of all, Although it was decent, CoD wasn't too good since the BEGINNING. While It did try to change up things, and with Metal of Honor was basically dieing off at this point (Popularity and sales wise), it was still just another one of the many war shooters at that time. Fast forward to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Yes, it was an enjoyable game, it also started to show promise to the CoD series, but to me anyway, the game still wasn't that good. (Now I will talk of other games in no particular order.) Enter WAW or Call of Duty, World at war, which, if you strip away the zombies, is basically a generic war shooter with a passable story and plays and looked just like MW (Modernwarfare). Enter Modern Warfare 2, a completely buggy game that relied way to much on KS (Kill Streaks) and really didn't have much variety (IMO) in its multi-player. It was basically the same freaking game and used the same engine with lots of glitches and bugs. Yet, stripping away what the fans said it had that made it cool, it is yet another generic shooter. While many brought the game just like other titles, I was confused as to why it was popular. At this time, I basically concluded that id Call of Duty was on a box it would sell, but... Enter Black Ops. This made my realization true. It had record sales, and although most fans loved Infinity Wards games over Treyarch's, It seemed obvious to me they were one of the million and millions that brought Black ops. All basically because it said Call of Duty. At this point, the game receives mixed reception from fans. However, the low attention span fanboys seem to out number the people who have realized that this game is basically Modern Warfare 4. It doesn't look very good, plays the same, still has glitches, although some are fixed, short campaign, and just seemed rush. Most fans of the game said it is Activisions fault. However, I believe Treyarch lost motivation for the series for awhile now since Infinity Wards game had been copied twice by them with some things switched up. A game that was also around at the time called simply METAL OF HONOR, seemed to be a much more enjoyable title then Black Ops, yet didn't see much light. Black Ops was so over hyped, that many fanboys are blind, and even with proof of some faults some of them will think "You just don't know a good original game" or something along those lines. Activision has been publishing rehash for many years now, and Guitar Hero appears to be dead right now, but really, I think Call Of Duty should just end. It does nothing new, it's easy and take almost no skill to play, there are cheap deaths, glitches, bugs, not much multiplayer variety, KILLSTREAKS, ETC. It is a generic shooter series that should end and stop making all these idiot fans saying **** like CoD takes more skill and has better gameplay than most other FPS, like Halo. That is BS and really, it is a generic shooter that has been doing the same thing all this time and charging large amounts of money for bull**** downloadable content. Keep in mind this whole post is opinion based. IF TL;DR, just read the text above.

thank god my opinion is different from yours.... and no it shouldn't die just because YOU don't like the game. stay away from it if you don't like it...stick to the games that you do want to play. as much as i don't like halo, i don't go around thinking it should die...why? cuz it wouldn't affect me if it did or didn't

It's just common knowledge that CoD 4 is very different from the CoDs that came before it. MW1 was the game that apparently "set the bar" for all other generic shooters. It sparked this following. It was good for it's time. When I first played MW1 I was fairly impressed at how much better it was than CoD 3. But they never changed the formula after that game.
