Things are looking great atm, funding has passed 4 millions and a PS4 physical copy was announced today.

Right now there are only around 3, 000 backer physical copies going out, but that number will go up a bit in 14 days. Think about that guys, for just $60 you can get a special physical copy of the game that will be ultra-rare while supporting the project.

The lack of a physical release was annoying and now I know I will own all three copies of Shenmue physically.

Not attacking you for your opinion or anything but what do you not like about it? Clunkiness? I personally loved the first two but they could be pretty clunky. I think Shenmue is one of those games where atmosphere counts for a lot.

So is this Shenmue 3 physical copy for the PS4 or Shenmue 3 Episode 1 physical copy? I strongly suspect the latter from his earlier comments about needing another 500 years to finish it properly.

Yes. This needs to happen. I think they should package the first two in with Shenmue 3, the same way Bayonetta 1 was packaged in with Bayo 2.

I hope they hit the $5 million mark, Yu said if they do it will be the complete Shenmue experience, I don't care about a full open world, they're overrated, I really liked the linear/open nature of the first two games.

They cant. "The property rights for Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 belong to SEGA." While, "Shenmue 3" is licensed to Yu.

Erm? Wha? Lol. Sony will profit from this game to the same extent their licensing fees net them profit from every bit of software sold on their platforms. They most certainly aren't going "reap all profits" from a third-party game. I'm sure their third-party partners would heartily object to that!

@AM-Gamer: they were going to release a digital copy for the ps4, so if you decided to pay 100$ then I guess that would account for the price and 40$ in donation to fund the game.

Sega should really release remastered versions of Shenmue 1 and 2 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC to help increase fundings for the game.

The Kickstarter had dropped down to a very low $10k/day a week ago... And then it just shot up to nearly $350k/day yesterday, its highest since day 2.

Crap controls, padding, choppy movement. Shit story. I like the arcade games it has, it gets points for that. Just a game that I could never get into nor did I see even an ounce of quality in. For those who love it though, so be it. But it is what it is, a dated game in almost every way. It's technical achievement for it's time should mean nothing.

Shenmue is an open-world, life-simulator, adventure game. It's not the kind of game that most typical gamers would enjoy. It's a game that caters to a niche cult following, rather than a wider mainstream audience.

Indeed; Gears 4, Halo 5, QB and Sea of Thieves look total ass.

Why are the gamers funding this? If it only comes to Sony and PC... You guys just saved Sony/MS money on funding it themselves. If this works out great for them, I'm sure they will try to do it again. Who the **** puts a kickstarter in their own E3 anyway. Seriously.

I've got a hard time seeing modern gamers caring for a game like this. Screams of flop in the eyes of the general gamer community.

I respect Yu Suzuki for that, it is niche games/indies that really need KS backup...

It's a meandering game where half the "fun" is literally walking around as Ryo and trying to figure out trivial things to move the plot forward. And in between the slow main progression, you're asked to make side money through mini-games.

If you missed hustling for money as a street window washer and want to relive those memories without the humiliation of being personally flipped off, play Shenmue, because at least it's a revenge murder story :P
