Under the old TOU every time I logged on and saw the orange circle lit up I knew it was some stupid penalty and point loss. Now every time I see it it means there's a new update for a game I'm interested in. The new TOU is a million times better and Casey Wegner can rot...
People were never banned for that, as far as I recall. They may have been banned for invading. Or bandodging. The most you coul get for posting two many pictures was a warning for not putting a 56k warning.

I got banned 3 times under my old account because I wrote sh1t in my posts (not in any trolling kind of way, just as normal informative, yet informal, posting). When things like that keep happening to you, it's hard to support a system where you get penalized for doing what you come here to do.
PS: In the days I had my old account, week suspension for what I did here. My last suspension was a month for calling someone stupid because his posts were just fanboy dirbble.

It's why I come here. With my current account I had 6 posts over 3 years, then I'm up to what I am now after 6 months. I don't like getting modded for slipping up when either my normal speech gets into my posting or I call an idiot... an idiot (like calling a "Nintendo is DOOMED" guy stupid. That was my last ban back in 2006 before I deleted my old account. Right before the Wii came out).
The problem isn't the new ToU, but the people abusing it. Nowadays it doesn't take long for a thread to resort to two or three people insulting each other to the best of their ability. Then there are other posters who act so on edge, that a nerve is struck everytime you say anything slightly negative to them. Then there are other posters who simply act like idiots.

I've had my fair share of suspensions and i admit most of the time i have overstepped the mark but i'd rather the old TOU with least some parts of the new one, a hybrid one that still weeds out the little morons and a fair one aswell.
The problem is with the forum software and some of SW's specific rules. I brought up one big problem in Site Feedback, specifically the fact that you can make as many threads as you want without waiting.
If/when the promised rebuilding of the forums occurs, I think we can get SW back on track and leave the TOU alone.
And in the meantime, it would make things much better if everyone started using the block list I made.

The new TOU has its advantages and the old TOU had its advantages. Overall I seem to prefer the old TOU.
With the old TOU it was funnier as trolls put more effort into trolling.
But with the new TOU it is funny to pretend to be cool while you shrug off the fanboy insults because you dare to not like their favorite game/dev. Even funnier is when they try to spread lies and misinformation about you (such as them intentionally misquoting you to make it sound like you said something completely different).
Yes, do it. This forum was so much better with the old TOU.

Yeah. I was suspended indefinitely for making a fart joke. Then 2 years later I randomly signed in and my suspension had been lifted. I was moderated so many times I should probably be in the mid 40's level wise. And doze levels are important, yo.
I don't mind the good trolls like arkephonic or loosing ends. I only have a problem with god damn useless morons like ispeak11yearoldgirlwithacrushonheruncle and hei68 or whatever the hell his name is. All they do is say the same thing over and over and over and post dumb jelly pics. They have never added anything worthy of discussion and do not care enough about the human race to to play in the interstate. These people really have no reason to exist.
New rules are not too bad, i'd much much rather have a few threads by a few idiots than get modded for saying "You're an idiot" at least now we are allowed to insult and debunk a thread from idiots like reach3 or PNF's alts.
The ToU is fine, gives SW the escence of war... I think it should be similar to OTAH, OTAH is Level 21 or higher. SW should be Level 15 or higher, and when lower levels post topics, we should have enough Mods around to lock these threads. That's another problem too, not too much Mod activity.
The signal to noise ratio here has gone down significantly. A good start would be removing all images - they're useful for screen shots, but they're abused for animations and memes, drowning out actual debate. Adding "jelly" to the filter wouldn't hurt either.
