September 25th big for many reasons

Thats the day Halo 3 comes out. Now it will surely sell well, and it will sell 360s.

But heres a scenario for you what if the Wii passes the 360 before then?

Halo will surely put it back on top right? 4 million pre-orders right? Do you really think 4 million 360s will be sold? Furthermore with a game like Gears of War selling 3.7 million copies (as much as twilight princess on wii might i add) during a time when 360 sales have slumped 65% during the first 8 months of the year it doesn't look like that sold that many 360s for that long of time.

So if the Wii is already even or very little behind the 360 right now (some sites and groups say Wii is already 100,000 behind or 500,000 behind) then if the Wii holds the 360 off even with Halo 3 it will be a landmark day in gaming for many reasons other than whatever spiffy game is released.

Think about it if the Wii passes the 360 and stays ahead of it despite Halo 3 then

September 25th could go down as the last day the 360 truly dominated.

It would be a turning point in this generation with Ninty being scorned previously by a new gen of gamers who play Halo to only send it back at them with there new console.

I for one think the 360 is a good system but I really think slowly but surely it will finish 3rd.

Honestly, its japan. theres no way and MS must know no one ever wins the console wars without winning Japan.

There are many reasons to say this won't happen, and it might not.

But if Halo 3 can't fend off the Wii's popularity than nothing can for the 360.

BTW didn't Peter Moore say Halo 3 was going to make up half of video gaming spending this year?

the other halo games had a 33% attach rate. with only 11 million 360s out there now, and lets say that Halo 3 pushes one million more(would be amazing). You are looking a 4 million copies of Halo 3 sold. If alot more than 4 million sell, it's safe to say that alot of Halo fans already owned an xbox360. of course more copies sell later on, but im talking holiday season.

Only 1 million? 360 only has a user base of 6-7 million in U.S. Halo 2 had 1.5 million preorders with a userbase of 13 million at the time. And this is not including outside NA. It will be big in Europe(well mostly UK but still).

I didn't preorder yet either. I'm waiting till early September to place mine.

I think this is going to be a defining year for the 360, if with Halo and the many other hits that are coming the 360 can keep the lead then the 360 is going to be number 1 for a long time. But if even with Halo and all these other hits the 360 fails to keep the lead from the Nintendo Wii then in my opinion it all over for the 360 to ever be in the lead again.

There are hunderads of thousands of people still playing Halo 2 on Xbox that will eventually switch over to Xbox 360 to play Halo 3, and what better time than right after a price drop along with huge games coming out and it being the holiday. Also the legendary package costs $130 and they have just about sold out of them at every store.

What I meant by that is that people don't think it's gonna be one of those revolutionary games. Its gonna be big though.
