The Ryse faces are from a cutscene, all the cutscenes are pre rendered in Ryse
Just thought ill point that out, but yeah Ryse does look better
lol still caring about Ryse with a day to go until the year of our Lord twenty fourteen
Put a sock in it
Ryse is also running smaller environments and at a lower resolution. It does look good, but they made some obvious sacrifices to get it to run at 30fps.
The CryEngine is one impressive engine too. It's a huge advantage for Crytek because it's a far more mature engine. ShadowFalll was the first game on Guerrilla's new engine for the PS4 which they said they were scrambling to get playable before launch. I would expect their next game to look far better.

for such a rush job, kz looks freaking awesome. wish they had a little bit better gameplay but it wasnt terrible. ryse does look pretty....
You can say it looks better, but that wont make it any less of a terrible game. At leas Shadow Fall's campaign is good/fun at times and it has a good online mode. Ryse has nothing going for it other than visuals, which aren't that impressive when you consider the FPS it's running at, the size of the environments/draw distance, and the overall amount of things going on at once. As well as the fact that CryEngine 3 has been around for a long time while Guerilla had to rush their new engine to make it in time for launch. I'll wait for the next Guerilla game to see if Guerilla has truly fallen off from their "console graphics king" throne or not. Launch titles don't typically show the full extend of what a console is capable of or how good a development team can be working on that console.
It's funny the way Lems will happily ignored the difference in scale and linearity between Ryse and KZ but get all teary eyed when the same happens when people start comparing DR3 to last gen games.
Ryse looks great, too bad XB1 has to struggle to much to acomplish it tho.
Crytek cut back on the game alot to get the results you see, they originally announced it would be 1080p then they had to nurf it down to 900p and the game never exceeds 30fps. The xb1 can acheive impressive graphcs but it is going to struggle with games in the future if even graphics pros Crytek had to cut back so much on such a small game.
This thread has some misinformation. I own and have beaten both, check my GT if you choose Babylon Burning no space on PS4.
-first off, the levels in Killzone are just as small and linear as Ryse. With very few exceptions Killzone feels more like Doom than the past Killzone games.
-second, someone said that Ryse has framerate issues. It has been my experience that statement is completely false. State of Decay for consoles has framerate issues. You guys need to realize that these sites like Digital Foundry are looking for hits. Just because a game drops from 30 fps down to 22 fps a small handful of times doesn't mean a game has framerate issues. That is quite simply a site using console wars hyperbole to drum up hits, nothing more.
LOL Ryse. Still playing that 900p/20fps blurry mess? Nice cherry picking of screenshots for Killzone Shadow Fall from E3. Why don't you use the latest build for your comparison OP? Here, lemme help you. I dare you to post Ryse screesnhots from actual gameplay that isn't a prerendered cutscene that looks as good as these screens I just posted.
Nice try lem

Not sure how launch game comparisions are relevant to anything.
I'm beginning to think that every lemming on System Wars is 12 to 20 years old and has never really seen a launch before. None of these games mean jack shit when it comes to comparing the quality of a console.
Why is ryse so blurry? not only is the image overly soft but it looks like it's barely running any anisotropic filtering.
The devs had to make the world tiny, lower the resolutions and frames per second in Ryse.
XBone isn't powerful enough to make Ryse how the devs originally envisioned it to be. Huge open world, 1080P, 60FPS while keeping the good graphics.
But like the other person mentioned, its about to be 2014. We should be talking about exciting new games coming out instead of bringing up bad games that flopped in 2013.
@PAL360: Nice images. How did you capture them?
Thanks. Using the share button.
Ahhh. So that feature does work. Outstanding.....

It works pretty well. Recording vids too.

Uncharted 2/3 were linear games with best graphics yet being linear didn't matter then. Oh how cows love to change the rules to apply to their whim when ever they see fit.

even with it having the advantage of being much more linear, ryse also sports a lower resolution and generally doesn't look as good as KZ.
I started playing Killzone 2 a little earlier and it's campaign is boring as ****. I'm not sure what people like about these games. Skirmish is always welcome though. I love fighting bots. Instant fodder. A pain in the ass I can't use a custom button mapping though. Using the right stick to zoom/iiron-sight is so unintuitive it hurts.
@ReadingRainbow4: I'll say it again, KZ is every bit as linear as Ryse. Also it doesn't generally look better. The truth of the matter is they both look good and both have some equally jaw dropping moments graphically. To say otherwise is splitting hairs. I never once thought to myself "wow you can really tell Ryse is missing a few pixels and fps". It's a wash.

How did they get fog inside the building. Yikes.
Corridor shooter confirmed. LOL at Bloom/Blur/FogZone being open and nonlinear. Cows are delusional.
the only none bullshot pic of Ryse you've posted is the first pic of the forest and you can clearly see how blurry this game really is. You can't see any details cuz dat vaseline layer of smexy next gen 900p is present. KZ:SF looks significantly better in crispness (rez), textures, lighting and particle effects. Ryse isn't superior to KZ anywhere but maybe and that's just a big maaaaaybe faces. You never see Crytek create a game that looks uglier than their last game, Xbone is the first to receive an uglier AND worst game than their last title, Crysis 3.
