An new OS has issues before launch? Never heard of that before, lol. Seriously, if it were any company other than the most experienced OS company on the planet, I'd be more worried. I expect some issues at launch, as well as a number of patches post launch, but hardly anything outrageous as I have no doubt MS is working on this 24/7. Also, def expect a response from MS in a day or so. It def something to keep an eye on, but neither of these systems are shipping with all their OS stuff working a launch.

A rumor, is a rumor. Nothing more, nothing less, and if this is the case, I'm willing to bet that the PS4's OS at launch, isn't going to be a "walk in the park" either.

Yup, I agree with that and expect that even with the PS4. I'm lucky enough to have a PC/PS3/Wiiu/360 and 3ds to game on as well. I wont be hurting for games to play.

Has anyone got footage of the X1 OS being run that's confirmed to be on an X1 console? I've seen people going through all the PS4 menus at events fine but nothing on the X1?

If this rumor is only half as "true" as the 720P Vs 1080P rumor that someone heard from someone, but was not really sure he should post, but then he couldn't really help himself and posted it anyway and now he is so busy backtracking all over the inter-webs that you can only see the smoke from his heels then yeah!

News is news, and what makes you so sure some of us don't have Gaf accounts?
As long as the core of the os is fine (the parts that they can't really update), I don't mind if there are a few teething problems. Truthfully both companies are rushing at this point. MS said after release they can relax and start fixing, updating and adding features.
I'm not sure about the PS3, but the 360 is almost completely different compared to how it was when it launched.
Don't think things are different for the PS4. They too will be updating a lot.

Very true that anyone can post "stuff" to the web
But I think that's exactly the point. Anyone can post stuff on the web, but this stuff is becoming really toxic to MS. Its like when they first announced the Xbone, a lot of misinformation was spread and MS was no where to be found to clarify and that's mainly what caused all the backlash and the subsequent flip-flops. So MS should try and do a better job of clarifying these things for the consumer before it gets out of hand again.

Post 2018 is a good summary of this latest **** up. PSN having problems too. Famous Mort leaked the Driveclub delay, Destiny of Spirits, Vita price cut, various next gen resolutions and started the PS4 no DRM campaign for what it's worth.
Like I said with the Wii U launch, OS issues and bugs with new hardware happens so often now, no matter what device it is I have to update it the day I buy it.
PS4 is likely going to need an update early on as well to fix issues that didn't come up during QA Testing.
Maybe you should question Sony and the bigger problems they are having. The staged reviews 2 days before the console comes out is a sign of all you cows about to get burned.
