Can this game compete with Killer Instinct?

Hell no.

KI is more than just a fighting game: it's an icon. A platinum intellectual property. Just the name "KI" conjures warm fuzzies. A game made by arguably the best developer of the late 90s in their prime. Bloody Roar was significantly smaller potatoes. Much more an "also ran" than a headliner.

It's possible Sony's developers can turn it into a good franchise but it will come in with basically no name brand recognition except among the most hardcore of fighting game fans. People may have heard the name, "Bloody Roar", but they probably couldn't have told you the genre or name 2 characters. Meanwhile, Killer Instinct...well yea. You get the idea.

The first 4 were all 3D hence the next will be, ditto for all the 2D fighters.

Every other fighter? Soul Calibur? DOA? Tekken? Virtua Fighter? Powerstone?

I hate rumors !!

Unless they carry good news about the PS4 :D

Pretty much, microsoft claims titanfall is an exclusive, so injustice is just as much off an exclusive, as titanfall is.

First, KI have to prove itself before we bother comparing anything to it. Second, I would love to see a new Bloody Roar, but I would love to see a new Bushido Blade a lot more.

Well, one could get injustice on Xbox 360, Windows, Wii U, Android, iOS, PS3, PS4, PS Vita. It's a multiplat.

I know it ticks people off when lems say titanfall is exclusive.

Bloody roar 2 on the PS1 was awesome... I played that game for so many hours. I mastered Shina the Leopard, and Long the Tiger. Really I liked all the characters, but those 2 were my favorites.

I am not a big fan of fighting games either, but everybody needs at least one good fighting game in their library. For this gen, I ended up settling on Tekken 6. I have no clue what I will get next gen.

True, but company's use the term exclusive very loosely these days.

For example , It states this game is a playstation exclusive, even though it isn't, as long as the game isn't on the competing platform, it's considered an exclusive these days, and the ps4 is competing with the xbone

I enjoy Blood Roar on the Gamecube, I wouldn't mind seeing a new BR game.

It all depends on the Balance of the characters. Killer Instinct was legendary yet the characters were horribly unbalanced, Bloody Roar while not legendary, can hold it's own against Killer Instinct. I believe Bloody Roar can do it. However I don't believe the rumor.

I am legitimately excited if this turns out to be true. Sad the series really went downhill over time, but the original is a game dear to my heart. So happy they randomly had that game at the arcade of the campground we used to go to when I was a kid. Played the absolute **** out of that game and then went and got it for my PS1 and played the **** out of it some more.

Never got to play the second one unfortunately.

Really, if they even just did a remake of the original to reboot the series I would buy it in a heartbeat! Definitely one of the funnest fighting games I ever played.

I think you are undervaluing Bloody Roar. There are five Bloody Roar games already with past media coverage in video game magazines like Official PlayStation Magazine and at least one of them was on X-Play.

Bloody Roar. Haha. What's next? Kensei? I actually played the games btw, they were ok for their time, but nothing special. Brawling games are so passe anyway. How about rebooting Colony Wars, you Sony fudgers?

I dont remember any of the fighters from killer instinct.... honestly how well did the orginal killer instincts even do? I am pretty sure there is a reason it is a free to play game/ we haven't seen it since the n64. In fact I cant even remember knowing a single person that owned it.

Lots of people care. But it's sell-through figures are going to be hard to measure because of its pricing structure. I expect a pretty high attach ratio to Xbox Ones...assuming it scores well.

Also, the fighting game community loves the game. When the big names at EVO, SoCal and Norcal Regionals all give their thumbs up...and when the developers are as big fighting game fans as these guys are...it's unlikely they'll put out a bad product.

But...time will tell. Now Bloody Roar on the other hand...

Yeah, this rumor is beyond false. Sony will be getting all of the major next-gen fighting games with the exception of KI.

And KI won't catch-on with either the FGC or a mainstream audience, but the fans of the older series will appreciate it. And the first season is 20 bucks! Kind of an awesome nostalgia deal, really
