It seems like Sony is in for something big and that they intend to beef up their current first party studios big time ( example open 2, 3 or 4 more teams in the same studio ).

Sony could also be planning to acquire more studios to join their first party team.

@MrPlaystation1 Expect internal studios to beef up considerably. Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Guerilla, and MediaMolecule all have 2 teams now

Hopefully some AAA studios.

I'm getting really tired of the lack of games to play on my PS4

#3 Posted by blackace (19785 posts) -

Probably working on more MMO games. You need more people for those type of games.

Get rid of Guerilla.

No more Killzone please!

You make it sound as if the PS4 been out for 2 years with nothing to play when its been out for slightly over 3 months now lol.. its your mistake for buying one at launch thinking it will have all sorts of games from the get go.

a new system will not have a huge library of games at launch it will take time but the current library is pretty nice i would play BF4 none stop if i had a ps4 and soon infamous second son.

They've been working on a New IP for quite some time now. It was actually one of the reasons why they moved to a new office a few years back. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see another Killzone game.

The studio now has two teams and there been rumors that the second team is working on a new IP so hopefully we see it this E3 but for the first team and seeing how well shadow fall has done on PS4 i can guess they are already working on the next killzone :P

now the main question what is the other team at Naughty dogs is doing? :D

Quantic & Ready At Dawn methinks.

New ip sounds good, but most likely will be another good looking fps that is still not on Halos level.

This is not good ! :(

#12 Posted by Mkavanaugh77 (20730 posts) -

seeing how shadowfall was worse than 2 and 3, I hope that they not make another shitty MKillzone game.

Time to call it quits with Killzone.

The new employees will be paid in stock options and Sony real estate. I will believe when it happens but totally skeptical after a billion dollar loss was just announced.

LOL, a lem pretending to be an unbiased gamer. No need to pretend being a concerned PS4 owner, your green lemming boxers are exposed for all to see.

Guerilla are a very talented studio.

Sure get rid of Killzone, but keep Guerilla.

Sony is in the process of downsizing. This is probably just more hype to the "greatness awaits" line.

Their thinking is to drag everyone along until the co. come up for air.

#18 Edited by blackace (19785 posts) -

Yeah, they really don't need to make anymore mediocre Killzone games. Try a different genre Guerilla. Let's see what else they can do. I'm sure we'll hear more about the studios at the E3.

Rumors have been an action-rpg based on rumors and hirings

Guerrilla Games -

"As a studio we do want to branch out," lead designer Eric Boltjes told Eurogamer, "and we have started work on a new IP, something completely different to Killzone. I don't want to say anything about it right now, but as a studio we do want to keep it fresh."

You can really tell whos jimmies got rustled with the recent announcement that Playstation turned a tidy profit despite a new hardware launch. Face the music.. The more talent Sony puts under the wing, the MORE money they make. Perhaps some of you should actually go to business school rather than pretend to know your assholes from your toes on the internet.

im pretty sure they've even stated that it isn't a shooter.

After smacking the 360 silly in exclusives last gen, this is the last thing MS needs to hear.

Just create the thread when all of this happens. Right now it is just to convenient that literally two days ago Sony announced a billion dollar loss for fiscal year ending 2013, selling off their PC business, and 5000 jobs being eliminated.

Oh and business school is for employees not for people that actually own a business. Nothing wrong with being an employee but its just not for actual business owners (which I am one).

Then it's clearly down to taste, and that ain't Sony's problem, that's yours. Bad times for you I guess.
Inb4: any comment on indies, f2ps, and the exclusives that you don't like as a rebuttal cause that'll only prove my point.

Maybe Sony should slow down and actually consolidate their business instead of spending millions upon millions when they just posted a 1 billion loss, sold off their PC arm, and laid off another 5k employee's.

#31 Edited by Rage010101 (5470 posts) -

This sounds very unlikely to happen after they just reported a $1.1 billion loss.

#32 Edited by EnergyAbsorber (4893 posts) -

Its smart for Sony to focus more on their gaming division since thats the only division that seems to be making them money right now.

#34 Posted by navyguy21 (12703 posts) -

With the losses they just posted and the fact that they are still selling off assets..........i doubt this rumor is true.

They'd have to be insane to spend money so freely at this point.

Naturally, this.

Only other AAA studio I could imagine Sony going after would be Insomniac - others don't seem to make quite enough sense.

Ah, I didn't see that. Doesn't change the fact that they were in the black this quarter and they're unloading their PC arm and cutting 5,000 jobs to boot. Those are positives.

No, you invest when there's an opportunity. They can always get credit to make the purchase. You people don't seem to realize that Sony was actually UPGRADED in their credit rating(there are multiple levels of junk status). They're not going to sit and wait til they have the reserves built up. Business doesn't do that unless it's Amazon or Google and has the unbelievable profits that they have.

Well positives in the sense that they are restructuring to stay afloat, but that throws this rumor out of the window does it not?

Business 101 really.

You invest when you have the capital to do so and when it makes financial sense. This is NOT the time to do it.

Also, selling off arms and buildings arent a good sign to investors. It may be to the CEOs pocket, but not for shareholders.

I really hope the PS4 takes off and sells as well as the PS3 or even PS2. Its really the only way Sony can begin to return to form.

Their other departments and products arent seeing the same success, not even the movie studios.

They NEED the PS4 to be successful.

#48 Posted by CrashNBurn281 (385 posts) -

I think Sony has some problems to deal with before they start investing in further studios. The company as a whole is bleeding out.

They need to consolidate, sell, and balance their sheets before they go spending money. I am ready for a great generation of PS content, but not at the cost of doing things right.
