2CH would explode if this happens. There's lots of bad blood between the Chinese and the Japanese, the comments from the nationalists and racists would be the most hilarious ever.

Wait, I thought Japan barred foreign entities from buying the majority of their corporations? I've heard that's a law there.

It just cut its forecast for profits by over 50%.

Well, I guess it's not all that surprising, seeing as how no one seems to like them anymore. I just figured there were still people buying their games like Resident Evil.

none of the japnese gaming sites are reporting it so its either fake, or capcom really want this to be lowkey(i assume the former). but oh boy, things would even look more grim if they got bought by a chinese or korean companies.

Well I have no problem with this seeing as how Tencent did a collab with a few of SNK's characters in Xuan Dou Zhi Wang a game from which they took alot of inspiration from SNK so I say good.

Just let Capcom die along with all their horrible (but once great) franchises.

They passed the point of redemption a long time ago.

Either Sony or Nintendo has to jump on this.

Resident Evil, Megaman and Street Fighter would be massive for Nintendo. Those franchises have always sold well for them, and would give them so many franchises with more core appeal

Capcom used to be my favorite company ever once upon a time...but they let so many amazing developers go and farm out there IPs to western devs, so I'm not really that sad as I would have been 8 years ago.

As far as those IPs go though, it would be nice if a company I respect to deliver games got the Capcom IPs instead of some unknown, but it's just a rumor.

I'm not so sure about Capcom getting money from this deal. Especially the employees.

Kind of skeptical about this rumored purchase.

I don't want to sound like one of those hipster older fan. But Tencent ruined Riot Games, and they would have been better off alone.

They can buy out the company assets and the studios, but they can't buy out the employees. I wonder if this happened would the staff stick around or would they flee to create their own studios.

Well if you know how the company treats them I imagine they'd just leave and find some other place. I can't imagine the employees not getting a decrease in bonuses and wage if the company were to buy capcom.

Tencent owns Riot games(League of Legends) and a minority share of Epic, not sure about Vivendi though.

Software wise they are,and those two of the big three as far as home consoles are concerned, one is already a massive flop(WiiU) and the other is almost completely western oriented games wise(PS4),and lets not forget that it only launched in Japan months after Europe,North America, and other regions.

I believe you are forgetting the 3DS. Nintendo and Sony are incredibly relevant. If you think Japan is not relevant to gaming you are an idiot.

I specifically said home consoles, the market most people care about when talking those companies and the most important for "gamers",I know handhelds are still relevant for now though it seems that market is changing dramatically, especially in Japan. Japanese developers though, they are far less relevant than the west, software wise, and that gap will keep increasing.

I never said they were not relevant, they´re just far less relevant than western developers.

Pretty obvious they were talking about console games.
