According to the Oddworld Developer, Cerny is now leading the team for The Last Guardian, with the goal of seeing it to completion. Along with the rumor it will appear at E3, perhaps this vaporware will finally see the light of day

According to Just Add Water Developments' boss Stewart Gilray, Cerny has been brought on board to see the long-delayed title through to completion.

"And that certain somebody is the guy who helped out with the architecture of Vita and PS4. I’m lead to believe his team is now running Last Guardian to finish," he said in an interview on the latest episode of the PS Nation podcast.

However, Cerny's most recent game was Knack, so take that however you'd like.

Do you think TLG will finally make it and be any good? or will it end up as the DNF of playstation exclusives?

I think this is going to be another Duke Nukem Forever, when and if it does come to market I don't think it's going to even possibly live up to the name it has setup for itself.

The guy behind Knack. Awesome! That said i'm sure Ueda said that he finished the concept and the creative elements of the game years ago. Cerny is a tech wiz so he might be sorting that side of the whole thing out. That being the case, it's actually a win win rather than the bad news I'm sure 90% of you here are going to spin.

Isn't Ueda still working on it? Pretty sure I read that even though Ueda left Sony he's still contractually obligated to finish it.

Knack was not that great probably because Cerny was also working heavily on the PS4 at the time. I don't think they invested a lot into Knack either. Seemed like the whole game was just kind of rushed through to make it for launch.

The lolknack stuff is whatever, they are producing, finishing the project, not necessarily part of key design.

Ueda's team probably got that shit handled, just need help getting it out the door. Creative quality of said help isn't all that important otherwise The Order would be a good game considering Santa Monica is a good developer.

Cerny on board is awesome depend how you look at it. He is a great technical and business direction guy Great architect. If he is brought on with his similar relations to Naught Dog and Insomniac Games then every one should be happy. If sony said here Cerny you take Last Guardian and make it yours then we should be scared a bit. Cerny is a whole of famer and one of the reason why Sony, Studios Like Naughty Dog and Insomniac games have enjoyed success. He had a stint working for sega sonic too when it was good. This is great news people.

In fact let me add this. If he splits from Sony and makes himself available Microsoft, Activision, EA or any other of the major publishers will throw money at him to come work for them.

I believe they simply couldn't hack the daunting PS3 hardware so they waited out for the PS4. Of course that means making prettier graphics accordingly. It's all I can really muster given the fact that Sony insist it's still a thing.

"Lol Knack" - Cerny is a tech guy, not a designer as such, is my understanding. And Knack WAS a good tech demo to showcase the new system.

Since the Last Guardian was already (from what I remember) mostly finished, just suffering technical problems, this seems like a perfect move.

Even after all the years and disappointments and bullshit, it's still freakin' Team ICO!

They've always been slow with their shit. Ico was supposed to be a PS1 game, but didn't make it and was released on PS2. I'm just bummed that Team Ico really won't exist after the release of this title since Ueda has left Sony anyway. Basically the end of Sony's most promising studio outside of Naughty Dog.

Forgetting about Knack... Dana Carvey, ahhemm.... Mark Cerny was a consultant for many years and helped out a lot of the top studios release AAA games. So, this is great news as he is the perfect man to help get a project back on track and finished.

I don't understand the obsession from a game from like 8 years ago that showed nothing but a CGI trailer. it would be like if scalebound disappeared why would anyone care so much 8 years later? I know i wouldn't.

With that said, cerny hasn't made a good game in forever. i mean knack was his last game, i would have 0 faith in this game being anything good. 8+ years in development for a borderline indie game of which we know nothing about. and yes i know it's ICO but SotC sucked ID why people loved it so much.

I don't see why not.

The gameplay doesn't seem like something that would age poorly. If they kept their focus, it could be a great game.

What's sad to me is I don't even really remember what this game was all about... I think it has a luck dragon in it... Regardless, if it is true, it'll be interesting to see if the past decade produces anything worth playing.

It sounds like their going to take what they have and stick it together with some gaffer tape. Then chuck it out the door so as Sony can save face by releasing the game after all.

This game gets dragged up from the depths of development hell every year around this time. People really shouldn't believe that its going to happen. There are other games that people should be looking forward to on PS4, like R&C.

Well you're more optimistic than me. Don't care if it's a Sony game or not. You dont announce a game and it doesn't come out in the entire generation imo.

Ugh I know. Imagine those God awful PS3 graphics and shitty framerate. Yuck. At least with Mark Cerny doing the final optimizations, it will actually look and run much much better than it would have if it released on PS3. It's a win win!
