Respawn confirms: We will work on PS4 just not first game

Well there you have creator of Titanfall confirms the first TitanFall will be Xbone, PC and X360 while the sequels to be on all platforms.

When asked about the exclusive deal for titanfall and wether or not Respawn will work on the PS4 Vince Zampella confirms: "Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall."

Also, it's not guaranteed the sequels will be on all platforms. Microsoft might just sink more money into the franchise if it sells well.

It´s all they need because by releasing only on the xbox brand as far as consoles are concerned,people will then start identifying the series with the xbox brand just like Call of Duty last gen.

This is all that takes,it´s a pretty big blow to sony to have the most awaited and winner of most E3 awards for best game skipping playstation consoles alltogether.

Pretty much my thoughts,MS isn´t stupid,they know this will be a major advantage for them to not have the first game on PS consoles,it doesn´t really matter if subsequent games come out for PS4,the damage will be done by that time.

Shadowrun (2007) is the second best multiplayer game of this gen because it was only multiplayer.

The sequel will be on PS4 too, unless Microsoft give them another huge cheque so that people have a reason to buy XB1. Dont worry about it Sony kids, if last gen is anything to go by then you dont have to worry about which console will be missing out on the best exclusives. Just hope the PS4 gets better games than the shit thats being hyped for it now.

Doubtful. The thing about Gears is, M$ is the publisher and can give them more money than a 3rd party publisher could. Titanfall is third party all the way around. Its doubtful Microsoft could offer the kind of money that would be needed to keep it exclusive without being hit with a serious loss.

If you think Microsoft wouldn't be able to afford to keep the entire franchise off of Sony platforms then you need to step out of your house or at least do some research on the company.

@SonofK: Of course they have money. Just doubt they would be willing to spend the amount it would take to keep EA happy. Just look at what EA charged them for The Porsche licensing in Forza 4.

And with all that money, you would think they could have sealed a deal for COD back when the exclusive COD2 was the best selling launch game on the Xbox 360. The best they could do was one month early DLC.

Stop using corporation worshipping fanboyism and use some logic. Microsoft has already lost billions on the Xbox brand. The amount of money it would take to keep games like this exclusive would keep them in the red. Especially if the console itself sells for a loss which it probably will.

In order to keep it exclusive, they would have to cover EA's anticipated profit for the PS4 at the very minimum which would grow with every new installment. Since EA makes more off the title than Microsoft, M$ would always lose money from it.

Idk, EA is pretty serious about knocking CoD down a peg its going to have to make the series multiplat sooner or later.

If MS and EA agreed on a sum to keep it off of Sony platforms them it was obviously mutually beneficial and they were willing to spend it to keep EA happy. Why even bother to secure Titanfall and not secure the sequels if the game becomes huge?

The rest of your post is beyond retarded. Both companies lost money though hardware sales, MS made alot of money through software sales and with XBL. And it's already been reported that while the PS4 will be sold at a loss, the worst case scenario for the XB1 is breaking even or making a profit.

Unless in the sequels go a different route during development. So yeah, if the game does become huge and it's mutually beneficial there isn't any reason why MS wouldn't pay to keep it off the Playstation, Of course the sequels may very well go to the Playstation hence why this is a theory, but this theory is certainly more plausible than your nonsense.

Now when was the last third party series to remain exclusive without the Microsoft Studios logo branded on it? The Witcher is the only one I can think of that wasn't some low budget flop. Your theory is not plausible because it almost never happens. It especially never happens with the likes of Electronic Arts.

It did happen with quite a few on the original Xbox. This was only because the Shitstation 2 didnt have the balls to run such games. The only way Titanfall is remaining exclusive is if the PS4 bombs which is very unlikely.

Demon Souls was an exclusive game, so was Metal Gear Solid 4, Ubisoft gave Splinter Cell Conviction as a console exclusive, the Left 4 Dead titles were console exclusives, so was the Witcher 2. Yeah some of these games were on PC, but then again Titanfall is on PC also so the same criteria applies. There were enough third party games that remained exclusive or at least remained off of a competitors system, all developed and published by third party developers.

Mutual benefit. The Tales games, minus Vesperia were mostly on the PS3, because the 360 is dead as a door nail in Japan, again mutual benefit. The benefit with EA and Microsoft is that EA would get cash, Respawn would be able to focus their efforts instead of spending more manpower on a PS4 version, and MS is getting a high profile game that's not unavailable to the competition.

We already know that the first game is never going to be on the PS4, with the next games if there's mutual benefit then it still won't be on the PS4. And if the PS4 is successful which it probably will be, that's just more reason for MS to keep Titanfall 2/3 whatever off of their system, since they'll need it to compete, just like they needed Gears of War.

If I were going to get a MP-only FPS, I would get it on PC. Just sayin'.

That was not a guarantee that Titanfall 2 would be on PS4. What it was happened to be a confirmation that other games Respawn makes will be on the PS4. There is a difference.

And of all the games you mentioned, most did see some kind of installment on the competing console such as Dark Souls, Blacklist, and MGS HD collection. Kojima also wanted MGS4 on the 360 but the game is too big and would require 7 discs.

Lems can hope all they want for the Titanfall series to always be exclusive but I just don't see it. Especially not with EA in charge. The difference with Gears is, Microsoft is the publisher. In order for that to be comparable Microsoft would have to publish it and sign respawns check instead of EA. Since EA owns Respawn, that's not possible.

Gears of War was one of the biggest games this past gen, Microsoft paid for 4 games so yeah if Titanfall is huge they could pay to keep it off of Sony's systems.

Irrelevant, you asked for games fitting that criteria, I gave them to you and now you're back peddling. I also like how you ignored games like L4Dead and Witcher 2 which were only on XB/PC just like Titanfall is.

Kojima was talking about the Legacy collection which came out a few months ago, MGS4 was an exclusive game for 5+ years now. Kojima has never stated to want to put the original game on the XB360, again mutual benefit. And comparing the HD collection is pretty weak since two of those games were PS2 games and one was a PSP game.

You don't have to see it, Atari and WB didn't bother putting the Witcher 2 on PS3, Valve didn't bother with L4D2, no one here is guaranteeing that other Titanfall games won't be on the PS4, but your claim of Microsoft being unwilling to pay to keep future installments off of competitors platforms is nonsense and is based off of nothing, especially since we've seen them do the exact same thing before, in fact that's exactly what they're doing with Titanfall right now. Epic could of easily have taken Gears of War 2/3 to another publisher and have made it multiplat if they wanted to. And even if it did cost quite a bit to keep future installments off of the PS4, it'd probably be worth it since not only would they make money through sales of the actual game, but probably through additional hardware sales, which is the most important thing. If MS wants a Halo/Gears/COD level series to push the sales of their console, then that's what they'll pay for. Pretending like you have the slightest idea how much money was involved here is making you look ridiculous right now.
