Cool, just what I wanted although I would prefer a disc option over DD.

I've been redoing this series lately. RE1, RE2, and RE3 on PSOne is done. RE:CVX is done. RE4 is currently next in line. I was going to do the GC RE0 and REmake on the GC in a different room, but I think I'll wait for this HD REmake instead. Still use the 'cube fore RE:0 though.

A quick cheap cash in, might also remind the world what Survival Horror is. Although I'm not sure newer gamers who have only played the new Resident Evil games would be able to put up with the controls.

If you wanna play Resident Evil Remake in HD now, use dolphin emulator and play it at 1080p.

Sucks this isn't coming to Wii-U as well. Don't see a reason why it shouldn't and I'd really love off-tv play for it, but adding widescreen support and 5.1 remix is enough to make me want the PC version. Classic controls 4 lyfe.

Judging by the screens on this website, some of those backgrounds look a little blurry and low quality. Hopefully that's fixed by the time of release. Maybe if this sells well enough it'll make Capcom get off their ass and do REmake 2

Or Capcom will leave it at that.

Also, HD remaster of a remake. Can we possibly go deeper?

More news on capcom's website. Looks like it isn't true 16:9 support. Looks like its using some sort of zoom on the 4:3 picture and there's a scrolling function that moves up and down depending on where the player is.

Don't really like the first RE game anyway. I'd prefer they put it to sleep and redo the second one. That one massively deserves it.

I'm not so sure about that after reading this quote from Chubby, at least on the resolution front (I'm no graphics/resolution nut though)...

Interesting technique they're using there. Color me intrigued. I'm heavy into 4:3 scroll functionality.

I wonder if this will be the shit port, and then a year later, we'll see a proper port with some effort put into it like the original PC RE4 port/new HD Edition.

A Shame this isn't coming to the WiiU considering that REmake has been made available only to Nintendo consoles since Gamecube.

Good to hear there will be a PC version. I guess Resident Evil sales have been pretty good on Steam.

Wait really? If that's true then WiiU owners can play the Remaster RIGHT NOW!

Though correct if I'm wrong, but when the PC version releases this would be the first time that game has ever saw an Official PC release correct?

Great! I hope sales are good enough for Capcom to realize that Fans still love the original survival horror elements of the first 3 games than its all action theme with 5 and 6. I left out 4 because it still maintain its survival horror aspect despite change in gameplay.

Not what I wanted and would of loved just the reboot to be honest, will not be downloading, was a great game of it's time but it's time to leave it where it belongs in the past and move on with a reboot of it.

Ha I just found it. Google is just filled with news of the Remaster so info on the original PC port was buried.

Running the original Gamecube game using Dolphin won't look anywhere near as good as this true HD remaster. Gamecube's backgrounds will always be low res since they are prerendered. The new HD remaster is rendering the backgrounds in real-time at a higher resolution and character models have higher res textures as well.

You obviously don't understand how aspect ratio's work. The game was original composed for a 4:3 aspect ratio, so for them to recompose for a 16x9 image while covering the same area would mean they would have to zoom out and the character on screen would be smaller. You also might run into distortion issues by taking that 4:3 image and trying to add more of the environment to the left and right side.

It looks like a lazy port, imo. The visuals of the gamecube version are so much different than RE2/3 that if Capcom did decide the rest of the series those games would look out of place, or need a complete overhaul which I doubt would happen.

You can't rerender prerendered backgrounds using Dolphin. It is impossible. You can upres, but that isn't the same as rerendering. Capcom has the original assets, so they can rerender everything in native 1080p without any upresing. I will bet you a $100 that the HD remake will look better than Dolphin.

The game did not age well at all. I'm with the guys saying the controls need attention. They were frustrating when it first came out, and are downright terrible compared to modern games.

Wii U version wouldn't even sell 100K copies. The only games that sell well on the Wii U are Nintendo games. You guys need to deal with the fact that the Wii U is just a Nintendo delivery system. Name me a single third party title on the Wii U that sold over a million copies.

but have they actually said they are going to re-render? judging from the screenshots they are just upresing because the released hd screenshot looks identical to the dolphin version

How about instead of remakes they make a new game that is not a TPS shooter, make a new game based on the older (better) ideas.

The new HD remaster is rendering the backgrounds in real-time at a higher resolution and character models have higher res textures as well.

uh...

I guess we should wait for this Release to come out to see how it checks out with Dolphin.

You can't rerender prerendered backgrounds using Dolphin. It is impossible. You can upres, but that isn't the same as rerendering. Capcom has the original assets, so they can rerender everything in native 1080p without any upresing. I will bet you a $100 that the HD remake will look better than Dolphin.

but have they actually said they are going to re-render? judging from the screenshots they are just upresing because the released hd screenshot looks identical to the dolphin version

If that is true then that is lame. Why rerender only the real-time visuals, if you have the assets to rerender the backgrounds as well? That is why I can't stand playing old school games with prerendered environments on emulators because the higher res real-time graphics stick out like a sore thumb with the crappy low-res backgrounds.
