I am Michael, who is Michael?

I bought the game to play co-op with a mate. It was enjoyable but as far as Resi games go, I didnt like it. However, I randomly bought all the DLC for it and I am tempted to buy it again for the PC as its so cheap. There is something about this game that seems to make me want to spend money on it, despite not really liking it at all...
Wow, it shows how bad RE6 was when people say RE5 was good.
It's the best RE game to date. It's only logical.
Why is this sad? RE5 was an awesome co-op game with a lot of replayability.
Sure, it wasn't Resident Evil 4, but what is?
You fucking people, I swear.
If Crapcom had any common sense they would've knew this before RE5 was even released. Don't you remember when RE5 was first announced how everyone was hyped and the game had amazing graphics? Previously they have released RE4 which was amazing so everyone thought it'll be like RE4 but look like a true next gen title. Everyone including me boarded the hype train and voila, game sold shitload but was garbage at the end. Most people were disappointed with it and now RE is pretty much dead after release of RE6 which was &^$%##%&*^. Crapcom is a dumb as **** company.
I don't see the problem. it's a fantastic B-movie game and improves upon Resident Evil 4's gameplay.
Resident Evil was never scary, you where just young.
RE5 was a pretty good game though. Just take out the QTEs and make the levels a little bigger (IMO.) Didn't like the inventory but at least it worked.
RE5 was a solid 8.0 game. It wasn't nearly as good as RE4 because it just doesn't do a whole lot new, unless you're into co-op; much of the game's pacing seems wholly inspired by 4, and I think it's become evident at this point that Capcom's creative process peaked with RE4. And having a forced AI partner in the form of Sheva in single-player was a really bad idea: RE4 wasn't "scary" but it was very tense, and there was this pervasive sense of dread and gloom because you were alone with nobody around to help you. That's gone in RE5 since Sheva is pretty dang helpful, and it transformed the game entirely into an action shooter.
@uninspiredcup: its not about being young. the old re games dont hold up graphically so the scaryness is demnisshed but at the time it had great atmosphere. if you play remake you will see re at its best since it still holds up graphically. game has great atmosphere.re5 atmosphere is one of a action flick not a horror game.
@ silversix_
How is "Crapcom" dumb ? you Boarded the hype train and bought the game just like 6 million other people didn't you ? They made a f#ck ton of money from President Evil 5, seems pretty clever to me. Maybe you should lie down and sleep "it" off, whatever "it" is you've been smoking.
@ princeofshapeir
You didn't feel Dread and Gloom for Sheva's Safety ? I got the chills when she was stuck in that container in Chapter 6. Mutuall concern seems just as effective as lonliness for Resident Evil. Some players are just incapable of expressing said concern for others. Which is Pretty sad, atleast thats my theory.
If you took the fact it wasn't RE5 but just another action game then it would be great but it had no fear factor and it's called RE5. RE6 don't mention that game it sucks.

Man that Bioshock infinite, it totally needed some Co-Op play, sailor outfits, QTE's, and all that other jazz, plus it also needs more.

6.5 million on Xbox 360 and PS3.
What's funny is Resident Evil 6, is at 5.2 million, and will also reach maybe that number maybe.

But when you look at the above link, it's clear that Capcom is a company with only 3 consistent viable franchises. Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter. But mostly Resident Evil. Capcom need to expand because for those that have been paying attention, Capcom is not excactly rich. New Ips are needed. Ones that are not Deep Down.
RE5 is a lot of fun. I'm sorry if you don't have any friends to play with.
The most surprising thing of all this to me is the fact that after all these years in the market and with huge(apparently) franchises throughout the years not a single game they made had passed 6M copies sold before.
Yeah, you'd figure one of the old Megaman games, or Street Fighter 2 would be above it. Those are games I see in just about every NES/SNES collection I've come across.
I played a lot of RE 5, think I had all the achievemnts (not counting DLC). Its fun...until you compare it to RE4, and realize the half-baked and forced co-op is plain awful. Also, lack of Merchant and the new inventory system blew compared to RE4.

Every game can be improved with boulder punching.
Yoshinori Ono said in an interview they value sales because its an indication of what fans want. Painfully enough I doubt they look at sales they way they should be looked at.
I don't think it's sad, I think it's great for them. I never thought people would root for a company to fail because they personally don't like a great game. I had a lot of fun with that game, and still remember how damn hard the village battle was. It was a solid 9 for me personally.
I bet if people give DmC a chance they'd love that too, can't believe it didn't get the sales it deserves. It's the second best action game of the generation, only behind Bayonetta in my opinion.

And how should it be looked at?
Sales indicate popularity. Companies are not so close-minded as to believe that they have only one group of fans. Drastic and genre-destroying changes are financially valid, as long as the gain in new fans is greater than the loss in old die-hard fans.
RE5 was fun. No RE4, but it was good at what it was.
Now RE6 on the other hand...
Exactly how i feel towards the series' latest entries, actually, playing 6 made me like 5 even more.
What i like about 6 is mercenaries, it's an improvement IMO, MP is overally much much better, but that's not why we buy RE is it? ;P
Ive been posting here about 7 years. And in that time I have met so many people who tell me I have terrible taste or low standards. I played both RE 5 and 6 with a buddy and we had a blast. Great games is what we called them. You know these "standards" some speak of are really self imposed limitations to having fun with games. Why game if your not going to enjoy them?
