Resident Evil 5 is sadly Capcoms Best Selling game ever.

What's funny is Resident Evil 6, is at 5.2 million, and will also reach maybe that number maybe.

But when you look at the above link, it's clear that Capcom is a company with only 3 consistent viable franchises. Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter. But mostly Resident Evil. Capcom need to expand because for those that have been paying attention, Capcom is not excactly rich. New Ips are needed. Ones that are not Deep Down.

RE5 was fun. No RE4, but it was good at what it was.

Now RE6 on the other hand...

RE5 was worth it for the co-op, RE6 was decent and got way to much crap from people who didn't play it. I'd say it was better than RE5 in some aspects while it was bad in others (namely I hated Jakes campaign and Leons last boss fight). Both RE5 and RE6 are no RE4,RE1 remake and RE2 but they are decent in their own right.

Also Shiva had dat ass.

I guess they were right. Half-arsed action games really do make more money on consoles than proper horror games.

Ah well, at least the genre still thrives on PC.

@GhoX: Yeah, you're right I completely agree with you; most games on PC are pirated, so it's only natural for games to sell more on console. :)

I'm still waiting for a proper survival horror R&E game so that I can finally start on this series.

RE5 was awesome. One of the best games from Capcom in the last 15 years or so.

And one of their best games. Excellent game.

RE5 was good because of the co-op and the mercenaries mode. It was kinda lame on SP.

Capcom is basically Resident Evil. It doesn't show there because RE4 is represented in different versions versions but it's basically third place with around 5.8 million. Four of the top five Capcom best sellers are Resident Evil games. :o

I love Resident Evil 5... Maybe my favorite coop game of the gen on consoles. Resident Evil 6 was a festering turd though :( I actually can't believe they released that game in the condition it's in.

It wasn't a bad game but it wasn't good either the hype and co- op destroyed it.

RE5 was definitely the best RE game of this generation. Even had some of the best DLC of this gen with LiN. Online coop was great. Online competitive sucked ass.

REO - Horrible and had such promise
RE6 - Didn't know what it wanted to be. Had some fun parts, some crap parts.
RE Rev - Felt like a chore to play. Ruined Jill's look. Horrible supporting characters, worst in series history.

Same here, the shooting mechanics were horrible, it actually felt like i was playing a game from 2002.

It's a shame that action cash ins sell so much better than real horror games. Though technically I think the original Resident Evil games have sold many more copies than RE5-6 Capcom just doesn't want to put the numbers out.

I'm actually pretty sure Resident Evil 2 still holds to most sales on a single platform for the serires nearing 6 millions sales on the PS1 alone, they don't even count the N64 version in their number it seems (Must have sold a few copies)

Six had better production values, more stories, better graphics, smart coop AI, zombies!.

Are the quick time events cool? I think so. And I don't mine the instant deaths. They are funny.

RER is still my favorite but I love RE6.

Camera was a bit of a pain though. And it hurt my eyes.

Yea but if I remembering this right scanning was optional for the most part. It was another way to get health items which is what I used it for.

I hated Resident Evil 5. Visually, it looked cool but all the story and action felt mundane. Wasn't the game like incredibly short too? Co-op was also a silly direction for Resident Evil from a survival horror viewpoint

If you add up them all it reaches the amount of Street Fighter 2. But if you add all the versions of Street Fighter 2 it more than doubles Resident Evil 5.

And Capcom, having only $140 million in the bank, decides to make Deep Down, a new IP that looks interesting and one of the few games they've made in the last decade that looks interesting to play, a multiplayer only, Free to Play DLC title.

RE5 and 6 have outsold every other RE game combined.

RE7 will continue the format. The series is basically dead. Move on.

The only disappointing thing is that it took over street fighter 2, which is the best thing from capcom.

Well number 5 is the best out 4,5,6 while Revelations is better than the lot but has the lowest sales of a RE Game. Go figure.

i played re5, it was my first and it was aright game. What they have been doing is pretty bad past few years IMO,

They don't have any games worth really buying, well there was one i was interested in and that was dragon dogma. BUT i can't get over the fact they put dlc on disc then expect people go home and drop other $10 to unlock... It turned me into pretty much a anti crapcon person

has much as i hate it, There is some serious money to be made in that free 2 play market specially looking at profits of league of legends/ candy crush.
