I've had my PSV since launch. As a system, it's a beast. It literally does EVERYTHING that I want a handheld gaming device to do and more. It also has some great games. I bought Uncharted Golden Abyss for it at launch and the game is literally an Uncharted game on a handheld. Little to nothing is taken away from the PS3 versions regardless that it was done by Sony Bend and not Naughty Dog. Other games I have for it and have really enjoyed include Assassin's Creed Liberation, LittleBigPlanet, NFS Most Wanted and The Walking Dead. Unfortunatly, I haven't gotten around to getting many more games for it due to either the games not jumping up higher on my list or saving up for a PS4.
Now that I have my PS4 though, I have a small backlog of games I want to get including DOA5, Jak & Daxter Trilogy and Killzone. Sadly, that's it. The PSV it touted more or less as an indie game system these days. Sure, I have a 32GB memory chip in it and I could download all those indie games, but I'm not an indie game player. Indie games that stand out to me are few and far between. That's why for the last year or so, my PSV has primarily been used for apps or more recently, a side system for my PS4 with the remote play feature.
Remote play fromt he PS4 to the handheld is great. It literally is a one to one with no lag that I've experienced so far, and I've played both AC4 and Killzone SF with it. The biggest issue I have with the remote play is that for the L2,L3,R2,R3 buttons, you need to use the back touch pad. It's better than nothing but when you're not used to using that, it can get tricky. I'm hoping eventually they allow for the PSV to be used just as a TV and allow you to use the PS4's controller if you want. It would make it nicer for when my daughter or wife has taken over the TV.
All in all, the PSV is a great little system. Having the second analog stick is something that was needed back with the PSP. I'm glad Sony learned on that front. Now, if they would just get more quality games to the system like another Uncharted, Infamous and some third party support. If they don't, I fear the system may end up just being a glorified accessory to the PS4.
