Killing Floor 2

Life is strange.

Killing floor 2 alone makes this a winning month. Those who haven't played killing floor are missing out on some really fun and highly satisfying gun play. Psyched.

@TheEroica: Beware, 1st chapter is very, very slow and not all that interesting (though not long either, 1h-1h30 depending on how much you explore). Story and pacing improve from episode 2 onwards.

@goldenelementxl: I just went with the article title. Not sure if Sony has officially announced it or not. They may have.

And I just purchased Life is Strange for $5 on Xbox One. Haven't had the chance to play it yet.

This is why I've stopped purchasing a majority of games. :P

Cuz you're cheap?

You own the xbox one version, gold and plus are just rentals.

Absolutely because I'm cheap. That's 100% correct. Sure, I own it with the purchase, but if I can have access to it with my subscription and play it once for free that would be enough.

It's the little sting of regret I often have; if I had held out that extra week I could have gotten that full price game discounted for $20. It doesn't affect me in a meaningful way yet I feel like a sucker every time. lol

Don't the monthly free games with Games with Gold count as you owning them (as much as you can own a digital game?) GwG and PS+ handle their free games differently and GwG gives you them outright.

@Desmonic: I struggle mightily with walking simulators. I'm usually sound asleep walking into a wall within 15 minutes.

GwG used to allow you to keep them, but now you lose access if you stop paying since they moved to Xbox One.

Killing Floor 2 is a okay game... But as a huge fan of the first, two just doesn't feel right and I guess the opinion is shared in some way. I played the game for about 40 hours which is about 1/10 of the time I put into the first.

That being said for a free game its not bad.

@TheEroica: It's definitely the sort of game where it's story, story, story + walk around exploring stuff and trying out different answers (time POWAHS!). If you don't get into the story in Chapter 2 (things REALLY pick up there) you best not bother anymore :P

Btw, you walk around a lot but the game makes your goals very clear and easy to spot (plus the areas are small-ish, so you won't take long to go from A to B).

It's a great horde game, but I don't really find it all that fun with randoms. The ballistics are ace as **** tho, but definitely a game you want a proper crew to get.

Killing Floor 2 is MUCH better on PC, the console versions are a step below. Kind of a waste of a PS+ spot but its free.

The first episode is slow because it sets up the story, but the second episode, it really gets going and its ending is iconic. The third episode is a fan favorite (and actually slower in a good way), but the fourth episode may very well be the best episode of an episodic adventure in gaming. The final episode is more philosophical, and like its title, more polarizing, It requires the most thought and has the most ambiguity.

The beginning of episode 4 is a huge landmark in video game storytelling.

LIS is more of a classic adventure game, or more accurately, its a combination of new school type adventure gaming with some old school elements. Its not a walking simulator at all (if I call adventure game immersive sims that, which LIS in not an immersive sim) even though it has some elements of it. Its not a Telltale clone either even though it has elements of that type of game, LIS takes some influence from Heavy Rain, but its no where near close to being similar overall. Its got its puzzles like a classic adventure game.

LIS right now is the future of adventure gaming, and more story driven adventure games will take cues from it.

Killing Floor 2 is rad. I played 132 hours of the first game and around 95 hours of KF2 on PC. I'll download it and play it since I'm trying to get some friends into it, but it's one of those games that feels like it really loses something when played with a controller.

With how frantic Killing Floor is and how much you have to shift yourself around constantly, I wouldn't want to play that on a console.

KF2 is certainly worth trying, but since there are no online games worth playing, my psn expired four months ago and there's no point of renewing it (for now).
