PS4 Web Browser 2+ times faster than XB1 Internet Explorer

Apparently, the PS4 allows it's browser to use more CPU cores than the XB1 does.

Like I said the PS4 is a much better media device than the Xbox One.

They probably had to make sure the browser was quick enough, the whole interface is written in HTML5 with webgl, if it performed worse than XboxOne it would be a joke.

Expected, IE is a failure of a browser even on PC. Sad thing is that M$ is the software company and Sony is beating them at what they supposedly do best.

Don't really use console browsers anyway. I got Google Chrome on the screen just next to it.

The new IE is pretty fast, only thing missing is Adblock and a download manager and I'll make the jump.

A game that gets a 9/10 in 720p is still better than a 4/10 in 1080p. Always will be. Don't be mad though. Someday the PS4 will have a decent game.

My Wii U comes in at 2355.4 on Sunspider. Never thought I'd see the day when Nintendo made a better browser than Microsoft.

That actually surprises me, the latest IE is pretty good.

Using this as ownage is silly. No one uses a browser on a console.

Also, browsers can always be optimized. Its just software.

MS is going to release a patch. This might be the Beta Version.

I actually used the ps3's browser a handful of times when my PC was down.

So it is nice to have a reliable backup in case you don't have PC access, something the ps3's browser most certainly wasn't.

Aren't Sunspider test just tests of a browser's JavaScript rendering speed? If so, you can only conclude that the PS4 browser renders JS faster than IE.

Not true at all. You're probably basing this off of a version of IE that's many years old. IE11 is just as if not faster than chrome and firefox and uses way less memory than chrome and also less than firefox.

Oh and I would take these numbers with a grain of salt. TC may have no idea of what the test they did actually tests. There's no uniform test that says "this is how good/fast your browser is." It's just one area and it is definitely possible that the PS4 or XONE browser could be better or worse in general.

Ah I looked at the article. The author actually says that the PS4 is better at javascript. Note how he only said javascript - because that's all he tested. He didn't even care about that, he was just looking at power consumption.
