Excellent posts all round from this guy. Unfortunately we all know this world is full of fools and Sony can milk them for all they're worth. Just look at the latest example with the TLOU remake. It's the generation of children, tweens, teens, man-children and bro gamers that dont know any better. Some of them dont even want to know better. All of this for what? Two high quality cinematic exclusive games every generation.
Sad that in most cases us PC gamers are going to be held back by the limitations of this garbage hardware on multiplats. Oh, they'll still be vastly superior but not what they could be.
Nice work Sony, I wouldn't be surprised to see xbone come top in this previous months NPD numbers but that'll be front loading due to Titanfall and discounts not sustained interest in the product, (so far xbone performing similar to PS3 in terms of the peaks and troughs in sales, some of you who aren't fanboys will remember at the early stage of the PS3's cycle the only time it enjoyed sales peaks to beat it's competition were around software launches and price cuts) Still nice to see a gen with clear differences in performance.
I recently bought mine, just a little dissapointed that Sony hasnt released many games for it. Imagine when good games start trickling they should sell like hot cakes.

In comparison MS hasn't released any big exclusive games for xbox 1 since launch. They are only relying on xbox console restricted multiplat Titanfall to pass the time while sony has a few console restricted playstation mutiplat games like FFXVI as well but sony still released a real high quality exclusive in Infamous Second son at the same time.

A win for gamers and developer and the industry. As for PC gamers, sure the hardware is not the best, but it could be worse, could be playing ported games from the Wii U. At least with PS4 and Xbox One games, developers will push the boundaries and with a beefy PC rig, thus playing it in detail ;) Not to forget games like Star Citizen on the horizon. Best of both worlds, win for gamers.
Honestly at this rate it's pretty damn feasible to achive 9-10 million around E3 (or shortly after) which is damn impressive! Shortly after that the Holiday bumps hit and if Sony plays their cards right, they could literally end the war (sales wise) in the first year.
At this rate (1 million+ a month) yes, very likely. Forget this "anything can happen" poop, if you ask me they ended the sales war as far back as June 2013 ($399/No DRM).
Wonder what the implications for NPD is? It's not been doing too hot the last month or so in Japan (sub-100k so far?) So it'll probably be 50/50 NA/everywhere else.

You can find them just about everywhere in the U.S/Canada now. That's just Sony's PR spin. They did reach 7 million in less then 6 months which is impressive. Summer months will be slow though. I think they will sell somewhere between 10-12 million by the end of the year. XB1 probably between 8-10 million.

That won't last. The difference is the Wii was sold out for a full year. That's why it was over 24 million sold by the end of the year. PS4 demand is dying down (it's dead in Japan already). The only place the PS4 is still in high demand are a few countries in Europe. You can find PS4's in US/Canada with no problems at all now. With the Wii, you couldn't find them anywhere in the world. They just kept flying off shelves as soon as they were placed on them. You think the PS4 will sell 24 million in one year? I don't think so.

as someone who dosent own a PS4 yet i see it already filled with games that once i get one i'll probably wont know which game to start with first..There is CoD:Ghosts, AC4, infamous second son, killzone, warframe, FF14, BF4, mercenary kings, etc and all those are games i already have and dont even own a ps4 yet! for a newly released system its fucking packed with games that i havent played yet.

Definitely doable. To put it simply, PS4 is outpacing PS1, PS2 and PS3 and even the Wii, which was undeniably a sales beast.
And this is all without Gran Turismo, Uncharted or God of War.
I've got to wonder if Sony isn't kicking themselves over not charging more for the PS4. It's true that the price difference is a chunk of why it's selling so well, but in a two man console war, even without price Sony scored all the early PR wins, they're ahead on specs, and MS has been fighting for and losing mindshare on multiple fronts since long before the XB1 was ever released.
My point is that even if they had both been priced at 499, the PS4 would very likely STILL be ahead in sales and public opinion. That's just where things are at right now.
But, instead they're selling PS4 at or close to margins (maybe less after marketing budgets, I don't know) and, if the suggested margins (which were estimated at less than $20bucks profit per console, just based on hardware cost alone) are correct they're not making a hell of a lot of money at a time when the company is hurting really badly.
Bump up the price 50 or 100 and I'm wondering if an extra 350-700 million would have staved off any of the losses they're managing (like the Square-Enix sale)...
I put it together. Sony did this a day early as a preemptive move to hide some of the NPD fallout tomorrow.
I don't see the point in DC. Microsoft pretty much outsold them with all the Titanfall bundles and retailer price drops for almost the entire month of March. I'd bet Sony is ahead worldwide by 2 million+ consoles so it doesn't really matter.

FF15, Witcher 3 and KH3 are big ones. I don't really care for shooters and stuff like Tomb Raider and AC4 I can just play on my PS3. I am looking for some more corky stuff and some unusual big name games to be announced.
Apart from that, I've straight up committed to not buy a console for over $250. I don't play enough games these days to sink more than that into hardware.
