Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, released in Japan for 3DS in 2012. Though it seemed like it would never see the light of day outside Japan, it released in Europe and Australia in March, and finally it is seeing its release on the 3DS in North America this Friday. Better late than never.

GameSpot put up a non-video review of it up today, gave it an 8/10, it highlights the positives as...

  • Some of the best courtroom scenes of any Ace Attorney
  • Hysterical dialogue
  • Quality cutscenes make the story a delight
  • Interesting setting that makes character crossover seem plausible

I'm pleased to see it will receive a physical retail release, especially after Capcom's limited distribution of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies to the Nintendo 3DS eShop only. Oh, and it's only $30, not the typical $40 new game price of 3DS games.

Anyhow, another great quality exclusive for the 3DS to have under its belt.

Maybe. I'm not too enthused about it, I burned out on Layton a while ago, and I was never much of an Ace Attorney fan to begin with.

Dat poll lol.

Already pre ordered. As a big aa fan I like to support the franchise anyway I can lol. I never played a Layton game though so this could be a good or bad thing. If the sales for this game looks good Capcom might localize that new aa game with what appears to be Phoenix's ancestor.

Voted pretty honestly there. I haven't played any of their respected games and I have zero interest in starting.

I'm in the same boat, fan of the Ace Attorney games but haven't touched a Layton game myself. Though, I did get a free download on the eShop between a number of games (forget the promotion) but the only game I didn't have among the choices was the Miracle Mask Layton game, which I've yet to play still. Maybe playing this will make me want to go back and play it.

Anyhow, the review was reassuring that I wouldn't necessarily have to be familiar with both series to enjoy this game.

Day 1. It was one of the reasons for my purchasing a 3DS (it was first announced in 2010, remember).

Dang, it's gonna have years of anticipation to live up to; I hope it delivers a satisfying experience on your end.

I'm interested in the concept, and the execution looks done well.

Hmm...

I've never played a PW or PL game, despite owning the first PW game forever. Don't kill me because I do plan on collecting them along with this game too.

the Phoenix Wright Trilogy should release on the 3DS eShop later this year, get the 3 DS Wright games for $30 but download only, but it will be a more enhanced version of the DS games

it'll still be missing Apollo Justice and the Miles Edgeworth Investigations, and if you're a collector in the meantime pretty much every game in the Ace Attorney series can be picked up new and cheaply for the DS for less than $20 each, that's good considering other DS classics can go a lot more used, that's all 5 games for $90 brand new

anyhow, 3DS publishing and distribution can be unpredictable, some stuff goes cheap with time, while others become rare and hard to buy, so don't wait too long, I learned my lesson with some games
