A second price drop in less than a year? Sounds a bit odd if you ask me, but Microsoft's handling of the X1 has been odd from the get go.

The only way I'm getting a Xone is if it's $49.99. I already have a PS4 and WiiU so there no need for me to own another system. Gears Halo and Forza aren't my thing.

The kinectless model is weaker so a price drop seems fair. Another way to do it is keep the price the same but start bundling games with the system.

299 would be a good price. (weaker than the ps4) and should include kinect. then it will be competitive.

I think there will be some awesome bundles during the holidays which will be akin to giving it a price drop

They're going to have to ride some pretty hefty losses if they keep planning on slashing prices like that. The money they're making from their gaming division will have to step in and cover up those losses.

I really didn't think July's NPD results were going to be interesting, but maybe MS got dusted hard again after all.

Going by Amazon trends which were accurate for June NPD numbers, Xbone has fallen off a cliff. July NPD is going to be much worse that June was for lems.

I can see it dropping in specific regions where it's basically dead. But I think they should just start bundling games with it to drop the price rather than actually dropping it. If I were MS, no way would I drop the price before Halo:MCC comes out.

A $350 two game bundle (Titanfall and Forza) would sell buttloads.

X1 has to be cheaper to outsell the PS4. No chance any other way. That's the only way the 360 outsold the PS3, was when it cost less.

A price drop sounds like it would be great for consumers, so I'm all for that.

@xhawk27: lol you wish. Titanflop bundle and $100 price drop didn't do shit to stop PS4 earlier this year and last month. What makes you think this will stop PS4 Destiny bundles from decimating Xflop bundles this holiday?

Give me a break. PS4 is all hype....its 26% more powerful big deal. The Xbox One has the better games this fall.

Contrary to popular belief, the X1 has not had a price drop. There are simply two different SKUs offered now $499 with Kinect and $399 without. So you see, the same SKU people bought at launch still costs the same amount of money. I wouldn't think it would be a difficult concept to grasp but this is system wars after all...

Consoles don't sell unless there is software to buy for them. This is just a fact of business.

It is selling, just to the people who want the software. Which is a smaller market than the PS4/Xbone.

PS4 customers sure are. There is a significantly smaller draw to the Xbone by comparison. Both are telling us to wait till 2015.

the Kinectless SKU wasn't a price drop, it was a cheaper SKU because it had no Kinect, the X1 with Kinect still costs $500
