Pokemon X & Y Mega Evolutions & new Pokemon Revealed w/ video WARNING SP

Some new evolution forms and monster types for Pokemon X and Y were revealed today courtesy of Japanese magazine CoroCoro. Scans and text from the issue were translated by Serebii.

The latest issue reveals new Pokemon forms called Mega Evolutions. Specifically, MegaBlaziken, MegaAbsol, MegaMawile, MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario and MegaAmpharo were mentioned and each had new special abilities. The process to evolve into these mega creatures will involve the use of a special stone.

The issue also included a showcase of the Super Training facility and a new gym leader, called Koruni, who plays a role in understanding the new evolution process.

Sorry for the lack of visuals, but IGN does not repost magazine scans. Pokemon X and Y will release globally on October 12, 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS.

This is very worrisome. This could really throw off the balance of the series. Lucario was already a beast and so was Blaziken... I guess they'll be banned from most tournaments then. They'll most likely be Uber tier

uhmmm mega ?  Digimon!!!!!!!!! :P anyhow... as cool as that sounds this will only center pokemon to even a tighter selection in competitions. :| They where fixing the dragon type problem with Fairies.. i wonder how they'll balance the "Mega" that is if they're as strong as they sound.

Digging that Absol and Blaziken. Next to Gyarados they are my favs.

I'm guessing that these are just alternate forms. Mawile and Absol could've really benifitted from regular evolutions.

Absol is easily one of the coolest looking pokemon in my opinion but it's not good. Too bad that mega evolution thing looks kinda lame.

These pokemon are too over-designed and ugly. I wonder if we'll ever get designs as good as gen 1 :(heeweesRus

Wow..... I honestly thought this was a joke thread with that title.... seriously? Mega Evolutions? I'm really liking the (re)designs of the MegaPokemon and I know this will cause some changes into the Pokemon meta-game but it just sounds so.... dumb almost? :P I don't think it's a bad idea per say but at first glance my reaction is just to think of this as lame cop-out lol

Well I do realize this will likely end up being a great change and loved by the fans, I just probably need to warm up to it a bit hehe :P

Is it mentioned if every pokemon will able to have such an evolution or is it just restricted to a select few?

Well Lucario and Blaziken are already too awesome to begin with, so they will probably have to change up the meta game a bit (or ban them from certain tiers).

Nice to see Mawile and Absol getting some love though. I've always thought that Absol should be stronger than he is currently.

They look really lame IMO. I'm happy they are adding something else to the series though. I'm sure it will grow on me.

I have to agree with this. I really hope this does not mess up balance, that said it would be interesting if these Megaforms had drawbacks.

I already dislike legendary pokemon as it is and adding megaforms (especially to a legendary) might only end up making things worse.

I'm still waiting for this.  Ancient Jigglypuff.  Wigglytuff is SOOOO Ugh.  I hate that form but Jigglypuff is my favorite Pokemon so if I wanna actually fight people, I unfortunately have to put up with Wigglytuff.  Come on Game Freak, give Wigglytuff a new evolution so I don't have to put up with that ratchet looking evolution

The MegaBlaziken thing has me stumped tbh. That's why it sounds sort of fake, even if it probably isn't.

They decide to give a starter mon an evolution out of every single other one? I thought they were supposed to be balanced stat wise (even if they really aren't due to typing too), so it doesn't make much more sense than the whole "make him look more bad ass cuz he's popular" route I guess.

I mean he does fit the bill considering his design is already looking like it could literally digivolve any second, but it's just awkward at best.

Man they actually managed to make Blaziken look more badass. Mawile just looks creepy. Ampharos looks dumb. Lucario is eh, but at least they got rid of that stupid spike.
