RROD isnt a problem anymore, although I will admit it is loud, Id go with 360 since its cheaper and imho opinion it has a better library. (plese do not call me a fanboy it is an opinion people.)

I doubt RROD has been eliminated yet...

well of course it isnt 100% eliminated, it never will be Im just saying it is a lot smaller, 360 has around the same chance of failing now as the other consoles.

also dont quote me on this, I could be wrong I just thought I read it somewhere.

I would buy a 360. The RROD has been greatly reduced and Microsoft has got a really good warranty covering it now. The 360 is cheaper and has a large backlog of quality games that can be found very cheap. Either console though is a good buy.

The problems with the 360 that you mentioned are old. There's no real confirmation that the RROD is gone, but they really only occur on the older 360s now (even then, it comes with a 3 year warranty to cover RROD and the E74 error). Same with the 360 being "loud"; newer ones are much much more quiet.

360 is what i reccommend though.

I dont know if they fixed it but some PS3's are even louder than 360's after prolonged use. still shouldnt be a defining reason as to which to buy any way.

Get the PS3 and at least for that extra $175 you know it won't die on you.

actually you dont know if it will die on you, just because it had a smaller chanse as launch 360s (and possibly a smaller then the ones out now not sure) it still has a failure rate, ever heard of the Yellow light of doom?

RROD is still a issue, along side the E74 error, plus Microsoft no longer ships out boxes for you to send a console in so if you have a problem you need to buy everything yourself. If you dont want to deal with that then get a PS3.

Can't go wrong with either a ps3 or a 360, but for me my 360 has got a bit more playtime and also has better online (but also my 360 has broken more then my ps3 has).

well it depends on your taste, although Xbox360 and the ps3 share many games, there are some key exclusives each hold that appeal to different people. Also, a ps3 is $399 unless you can find cheaper, which means you can only get the game that comes with it. The 360 on the other is $199, which leaves you enough money to buy many great games that have came out for it.

Riverwolf007

Second rate library? Both consoles are pretty much neck and neck in AAAE and PS3 has the only AAAAE and been out a year less than the 30. Bot libraries are solid.

But to answer TC's question - Seems you already have a good gaming PC so I would go with PS3.A lot of good 360 games are already available and will be available on your PC so I would get the PS3 to widen your overall selection of exclusives. This is just my opinion though.

With your budget if you choose to go with a 360 I would recommend staying away from the barebones $199 Arcade model. You'll end up spending more in the long run for things that you need and it doesn't come with.

You have a pc so PS3 is the obvious choice, free online tons of games you can't play anywhere else, better hardware, better piece of tech. The 360 shares most of it's high profile games with the pc. Why is this a hard choice? Honest question.

you keep telling yourself that and adding up someone's elses reviews to make it look good, if that works for you then great, all i know is the back library is better... is that even arguable here? are people that disconnected from reality?

That wasn't what you said, though. You said it had a second-rate library, which is about as "disconnected from reality" as you can get. PS3 has some pretty awesome games and is on par with what the 360 is doing now.

As far as the back library goes, there I would have to agree with you. That one-year headstart combined with the early problems that developers had with the PS3 architecture left the back library a little thin. It won't take long before it catches up, though.

If you are worried about RROD, get a PS3. I wasnt worried, and got a 360 on Dec 08. It broke 3 motnhs after. Seriously.
