I just want to point out, these games are beating heavyweights like Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Monster Hunter to claim the top spots.

Looks like the PS3 and Wii U might be giving the PS4 a run for its money yet in Japan.

So you believe something called Mario Kart isn't a heavy weight? How many units did it sell for the Wii?

Unless those votes are by the thousand that's hardly anything to get excited about.

Bring me Persona 5!!!

well those numbers do not indicate how much the game is gonna sell for example Yakuza ishin got 309 total points on 2 systems yet barely sold 220k on both.

japanese dudes are the biggest asshole mario kart players ever. they will target people outside of their region with EXTREME prejudice, I've noticed. playing mario kart 7 every now and then with some friends and i swear I always see a brigade of metal marios who will just give up their lead to star power slam others off the road even if they were already in dead last.

Over 15 million. That's as heavy as you get.

Mario Kart is my most anticipated of 2014. And I can see the appeal of Persona. One of these days I am gonna get crackin on Persona 4 Golden. I play a little here and there but it's probably time to get serious.

Gotta love when the most wanted exclusive game is last-gen.

That's not necessarily true in all cases. Number of votes tend to become irrelevant after 400-ish (in total), as long as the poll is properly done.

The sample size in this case is big enough, so as long as it is a proper sample, then it should be fairly representative of the entire Japanese market. On the other hand, even if the numbers are huge (e.g. millions of votes), the result can still be inaccurate if there are biases or other non-sampling errors in the sampling process.

In this case, the sample contained only "Famitsu readers", which is not representative of all Japanese gamers. There wasn't a random selection, and the poll was simply thrown at all the readers. Only those who wanted to vote cast votes, so many of the readers probably did not respond. Overall it is a pretty bad poll.

Well over 30 million including bundled copies of the game.

Well, let's hope the Japanese start buying some console for Mario Kart then.

Im more excited for Final Fantasy 15 than i am with any other game listed.

PLEASE BRING FF15 THIS YEAR!

@super600: Mario Kart was not bundled until after it had sold 35 million units worldwide. Once it was bundled, Nintendo stopped reporting its sales. So all its sales are legitimate.

I hate it when people try to discount the incredible, insane success of Nintendo games last generation.

I've always wanted to get into the Persona games but haven't had the systems they're on.

Mario Kart Wii is ass. It's easily my least favorite in the series. Wicked balancing issues and stuff. Haven't played the 3DS one, but if 8 fixes the issues of Wii then it might be worth it.

I'd also like to point out that New Love Plus+ beat SSB4 3DS. SSB4 WiiU edged out by 1 vote. We both know what'll actually sell though. :(
Also, the Samurai Warriors series has never been able to breach the 400k mark on a single platform yet has beat MH4U, its predecessor being a multi-million seller in Japan alone.

I already know that and I did say including bundled copies of the game.

That's where I am saying you were wrong, those 35 million sales do not include the bundles.

PEOPLE WANT THE LAST REMNANT???

When I read your post I was thinking sequel. I forgot that never came out for PS3. That game had a great combat system, really bad everything else. I would welcome a second chance at the game

PEOPLE WANT THE LAST REMNANT???

Oh yeah, that game existed.
