in most cases there is a highly subjective bent to such claims.

Objectively the PC have more advantages as it stands, and how it looks in the near future. Mainly due to the ability to customize and play the way you want to, tailored to you the induvidual gamer, both hardware and software wise, aswell as altering gameplay and content.

IF that holds subjective value to anyone, depends on the person. And if the PC will always hold that advantage, is unknown, I can foresee that smart platforms might be able to have the the same advantages to most extends. Consoles is a one size fits all for better or worse, they might get more open, or they might not. Depends, and not universally something well recived.

Well...pc gaming definitely needs to step its game up, if it wants to stand toe to toe with consoles.

No goty exclusive for a decade, coupled with the hundreds of thousands of signatures for pc port petitions...theres definitley quite a few, insatisfied pc gamers.

Why did you lump smart phones in with consoles? makes 0 sense.

It's more accurate to put smart phones in with PC since gaming for each of those products is a secondary function. Can't be bothered with going any further on the fail of this thead.

Gaming on consoles is a secondary function, but they are good to order pizza through pizza hut application.

So yeah, PC is the transcendent platform.

Consoles will never have sophisticated games like arma or Total war without being lobotomized to the point they are movie games. Yes, pc has won. Everyone agrees.

PC is great. But PC also missed the best open world games last gen (GTAV, Red Dead Redemption), the best platformers (Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong, albeit it got Super Meat Boy), the best hack and slash (Bayonetta), the best third person shooters (Gears 2/3 and Vanquish), and oodles of amazing 1st and 3rd party console exclusive games like MGS4, the Zeldas, Halo series, Forza series, Uncharted series, Last Of Us, Valkyria Chronicles, and more.

Any gamer who pretends those games aren't worth something is just a liar, consoles provide thousands of hours of amazing gaming that PCs can't.

There are advantages wherever you go. I got fed up of upgrading my PC... Such is life. I still want a gaming/HTPC, but priorities take over.

Well GTAV is still likely to make an appearance.... I'm getting the vibe that its like GTAIV abit of a letdown anyway.

Ahh the old lets list multiple games from 3 different platforms to compete with the PC ..because we all know anyone who owns consoles always has and buys all 3 systems.

The reality is no matter what platform you buy you are missing out on a bunch of games ....so your point is moot.

I could sit here and reel off a big list of the many games consoles miss out on,it would take me a long time,and and I would be correct too,and all them would be from the same platform......

GTA V is in development for PC and current gen consoles but the hype died a long time ago , no one cares anymore . RDR ? Lol , running out of arguments .? As far as console exclusives go 90% of them don't interest anyone who gamed on PC long enough . We want games not movies or games from only one genre . Lets see ; Gears = Action game , Uncharted = Action Game , god of war = Action game , Halo = Action game and so on . Donkey Kong and Mario .? Don't make me laugh .

Should I name exclusives that PC got last gen .? Even if you combine every crap out there , PC library still exceeds thanks to games like Total War , World in Conflict , The Book of Unwritten Tales , Starcraft 2 , ArmA 3 , Black Mesa , Guild Wars 2 , Path of Exile , Shadow Warrior , Hard Reset , The Witcher , Dawn of War 2 , WarGame , Amnesia and so on . All of these games have different genres that consoles will never get . Nice try though .

PC will always be a better platform, dont forget all the content you consume on the consoles is made first on a PC and built around the limitations of the console.

Nvidia came out not long ago and said its impossible for the consoles to have better graphics than the PC purely because the PC was also the best graphics platform. If its a question of input, PC also wins out as it has an extreme selection of third party input devices including those that are based around haptic feedback to pick from. If its about social aspects to a publishers console... well outside of the general options via internet, steam has grown to be one of the best out there. Content is another big one, with PCs there is a huge influx of user generated content whether its in the form of the steam workshop or just general mods, players on a PC usually pay less for their games and get more in the process.

PCs can hook up to TVs as well as other display devices, so this is not exclusive to consoles. This is made especially clear with the advent of the steambox.

So what do you get with consoles? Right now.... ease of use (basically plug and play), as well as whatever exclusives the publisher managed to buy out... so basically its game specific.

Im going to predict that the future for consoles is numbered. Consoles are just hardware platforms for existing Publishers. Publishers make their money from games, not the hardware. Thus dont be surprised if they eventually cave in on making PC based platforms instead and just make use of online distribution platforms (like Steam) instead.

This is true, and an excellent point. However, most games that used to be console-centric have started coming to the PC, and I would expect next gen to be even better than last in terms of getting series and genres that were traditionally console-only onto the PC. Last gen, the PC got most of the fighters, a few beat-em-ups, and even a few platformers and JRPGs. Console multiplats that don't make it to the PC are almost a thing of the past now.

When the thread is the old "ALL CONSOLE SUCK LOL", then yes I will obviously list reasons why they don't, and list reasons from each console: they were all worth owning in the 7th gen.
