Perhaps I just suck at using the keyboard and mouse, but I tend to do better in PS4's Battlefield 4 than in PC's Battlefield 3. Or, is it the mechanics of each game?

Whenever I play BF3 on PC, I tend to get killed very soon after spawning by someone on the other end of the map or by someone who blind sides me. However, I don't have this problem in BF4 on PS4.

To demonstrate my point, my KDR in BF3 on PC is 0.43, while on PS4 it fluctuates between 0.88 and 0.92.

What gives?

No offense to any console gamers, you may find the competition a little more easier to get into, PC has a lot of skilled players with KB+M and there is ALWAYS someone better than you, but do not take this post as gospel, but a possibility.

Be more cautious of where you spawn, unless you're playing TDM. And I'd imagine there are a lot more new/noob players on BF4 and probably slower to react compared to BF3 PC

I suppose it would take the console user a little longer to get their aim upon you. Whereas on the PC, once you are spotted... you're dead.

that shouldn't be possible since there is spawn invulnerability in BF3, so as long as you don't move or shoot you are invulnerable for a couple seconds

PC players have fricken laser beam aims and the pace of the game is MUCH higehr

Console versions (no disrespect) are a more casual experience. The pace is slower and people don't kill you as fast due to the nature of aiming with a controller.

I think it was KHandAnime on here who was talking about it recently. He had been a big player of PC games for a while but is enjoying PS4 BF4 more because it's a lot more laid back and you don't die as quick

THe only real noticeable differences I've noticed between playing BF on consoles and PC is that there are more cheaters on PC and the vehicles are a bigger pain in the ass to control.

It takes a lot more skill to aim with thumb sticks rather than a mouse. It's just too easy to be good a BF on PC. If you have a kdr lower than 2.5 then you are just baaaadd. If you have a spm lower than 600, you are just baaadd.

There's a reason cross platform always gets cut from games. Mouse is just vastly superior at shooters, no questions asked. Pinpoint accuracy and immensely superior reaction times

Keyboard and mouse. I have to check my settings for sensitivity; I'm assuming their the default settings.

Ok, what DPI is your mouse?

If this is a changable setting in software, keep it at 800DPI, if your mouse has a polling rate slider, set it to the maximum it can do.

Copy my settings in windows:

Mouse settings are not interchangable for the most part, but the basic windows settings are best at what i have in the above image, pointer precision can be left on or turned off, off will give you a more natural feel to the mouse, leaving it on does exactly what it says, i prefer it on.

Now, if you have a good mouse, usually software comes with it or as a separate download, here is where you can find polling rates and various other features.

Now aiming is only 50% of the challenge, using cover intelligently and flanking is the other 50%, you will never master this, no one ever does due to how random multiplayer is, but most maps have a usual flow to them.

I cannot tutor you on what settings to use on your mouse or how to play the game, but in time you will grasp situational awareness, and learn the tricks of the trade as you progress further.

I recommend starting out with a lower DPI around 800-1000, start slow with aiming, and work up the DPI ladder, i am comfortable at 1620 CPI (same thing as DPI) and have the option for a much faster DPI when inside a vehicle or tank.

Like i said though, i cannot teach you, just offer help.

To demonstrate my point, my KDR in BF3 on PC is 0.43, while on PS4 it fluctuates between 0.88 and 0.92.

What gives?

I was just talking about this in the other threads. My short summary: Consoles players are playing for fun and are limited by the controller so it's more of a casual, fun tactical experience and less of a tense, stressful twitch-shooter experience. The PC crowd is full of uber nerds with their $200 joysticks who camp the Jets all day just so they can go 200-3 on the scoreboard every round. Not the best crowd to play with. I'm not going to say the PS4 version is better than the PC version (it's not!), but sometimes games are more fun in a more casual setting with more casual players.

Here's my previous post discussing this topic from another thread...

64 players with a M+KB sounds like the epitome of hell on maps considering how open BF4's maps are. Not being able to walk anywhere without instantly getting sniped really doesn't sound terribly fun to me. That's primarily why the game feels consolized to me. With a M+KB, the game becomes more like an excercise in player-spotting and eyestrain and less of an entertaining experience. Hell, even with just a controller, the PS4 version already isn't far from this - I can only imagine how much worse it is on the PC version. I just went with what sounded like the more entertaining gameplay experience to me. Besides, I've been playing FPS primarily with a mouse and keyboard since I was a toddler. I'm too used to topping the scoreboards with M+KB. And once you're used to it, the challenge and fun associated with it really withers away. Additionally, PC game servers become really restricting with all their specific server-side mods, rules, and map-rotation - it gets to the point where it's an exercise in patience every time you simply want to find a normal server to play in. This never happens on the consoles.

Of course, just speaking on the experience personally. Is the PC version superior? I'm sure it is - I'm just not in the mood for it this time. I own and have played every single Battlefield game on the PC up until now. After spending a few weeks with the game, I can honestly say the maps and gameplay certainly feel more fine-tuned for controllers in mind, not mice and keyboards. The weapons are too accurate and the maps are too open and lacking cover compared to previous BF games. I've even sniped guys at their protected spawn, from my spawn, in many maps, with the Support Class' starter machine guns. And that's only the the DS4. :P

What peripherals do you use bluray?

Mouse, KB etc.

Also settings for sensitivity.

Doesn't enhance pointer precision=mouse acceleration which should be turned off?

It does, but for some reason i prefer it, i did mention that turning it off gives a more natural feel.

I never understood the reason for mouse acceleration. Is it a relic from a by gone era?

My default pointer options are the same as yours. However, I do not have software for my mouse; my computer automatically downloaded the drivers for it when I plugged it in for the first time. It's a wireless Dell Mouse.

How can you do that to yourself.... no wonder you are getting your ass handed to you. Get yourself a real mouse!

PC gamers got skill? Play with a controller and let's see how much skill you got. Takes much more effort to aim with an analog stick than it is to point n shoot.

yeah, try setting your mouse to 800 dpi without mouse acceleration. It takes a lot of space to move those mouse around the screen

No offense to any console gamers, you may find the competition a little more easier to get into, PC has a lot of skilled players with KB+M and there is ALWAYS someone better than you, but do not take this post as gospel, but a possibility.

It takes a lot more skill to aim with thumb sticks rather than a mouse. It's just too easy to be good a BF on PC. If you have a kdr lower than 2.5 then you are just baaaadd. If you have a spm lower than 600, you are just baaadd.

With a KDR of 0.43, I guess I'm just terribad.

No thanks, I prefer not having to wrestle with the controls to play a game

Ahh, yeah that mouse is really archaic so to speak...

Wireless brings on a lot of issues with latency too.

A list of Sensei mice from Steelseries (one i use)

Some Zowie mice:

Razer Deathadder 2013 (the only Razer mouse i recommend)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826153114&Tpk=razer%20deathadder%202013

Any of those is a huge upgrade over what you are using now.
