PC GOTY is Divinity Original Sin

Well, that was abit surprising. It's my own GOTY, but i wasn't expecting that after Mordor and Mario Kart took it for the consoles.

Good choice Gamespot. I'm happy to see the game get more recognation.

TFW both console GOTY's were the same multiplat.

They are such a small studios and needed a kickstarter to help fund the game. They truly followed through with the game.

Excellent choice gamespot. WOuldnt have chosen any different game.

This game respects both the players time, and their intelligence. Those two alone are enough for me to commend it. But it also respects our creativity as well, allowing us to create all sorts of creative solutions to problems as well as our own mods. Truly a marvelous gem.

A very worthy winner. DAI steals it for me though I am playing it on PS4 so yeah, Divinity easily the best game I've played on PC this year (and for a number of years in fact).

Dragon Age shits all over Divinity Original Sin :P

There's no way they can name Bayonetta 2 as the overall GOTY when they didn't even name it the Wii U game of the year even as a Wii U exclusive.

Either Dragon Age: Inquisition or Divinity: Original Sin is winning GOTY...just as it should be.

Excellent GOTY. Even tho this is a great GOTY, i still think DA:I (even with its flawed combat system) is a little bit better and has more content. Having more content than Divinity is an achievement on its own. Been playing DA:I since release and im not tired of the game at all

In 2013 Journey wasnt named as PS3 goty either but it won overall GOTY.

In fact, Dishonored was GOTY for both the 360 and PS3, yet the best version of Dishonored was also nominated on the PC and was beaten by GW2. That should have meant GW2 had it in the bag ...but something really weird happened during voting.

Yeah, i mean, Mordor beats DA in both the ps4 and xb1 award, and now Divintiy beats Mordor on PC. Dark Souls 2 also didn't win on PC either

Logically, it should be between Mario Kart 8, Divinity, Hearthstone and TLOU DLC.

I love rpg;s, but haven't played much top down view rpg's as Diablo, Torchlight or Divinity Original Sin. More into third person hack n slash action rpg's. Still thanks for the recommendation, i'll try to play it asap as its reviews are mindblowing :)

This isn't like Diablo or Torchlight. This is turn based like Fallout, Baldur's Gate, and Divine Divinity.

Good stuff. I'll be off for 5-days in a row next week and was wanting a RPG to dive into. I was stuck between this and Dragon Age 3, which I couldn't didn't want to get because I want to wait until I grab a PS4/XB1 to play it). DOS might be the game to pick up.

I got the game, yet to play it though. Good to see it win GOTY.

Don't worry if you never played top down games before. This game will convert you. Just be patient for first couple of hours when learning about the game yourself (no hand holding). Once you're done with that phase, then it'll be a pure fun after that, till the end. I think the thing they need to improve in the next game is the tutorial in the beginning because a lot of players loose their patience it early hours in such games.

I can't disagree, it's my personal game of the year across all platforms. I'm happy to see Larian getting some kudos.

Why should I be butthurt?

1) DAI has won the most GOTY awards so far this year and is winning Reader's here.

2) DAI is actually NOT my GOTY pick.

I am replaying D:OS with a mod which allows me to create all 4 party members manually.

I havent had this much fun in an RPG in ages. Now it combines the second best tactical battle system ever made for an RPG (JA2 1.13 is still on top) with full party creation.

Valid reasons from many people why this game is a gem and none of it has to do with graphics,and for some reason it matters how it was funded?

because its simply not that good. Too many elementary flaws in its RPG elements.

Yet, GameSpot, and a whole lot of PC gamers disagree.

Despite having next to no advertising, the game sold pretty damn well. Why? Entirely positive word of mouth.

As an RPG, it certainly kicks Dark Souls 2 and DA:I's ass. 2 games of which I might add, barely pass as RPGs and if anything are closer to action adventure games.
