PC Gamer: Valkyria Chronicles PC port is heavenly.

As if this game needed more reasons to be purchased

Unlike that offensive port job of FF13 by Square Shitnix, SEGA didn't drop the ball on this one, and instead, brought us a very competent PC port the game deserves. The game includes:

• 1080p and beyond support (shadow and texture resolution scales accordingly to the resolution)
• No 30FPS lock
• KB/M support that actually works really well
• Runs smoothly even on modest machines
• 1 second loading time on HDD
• Rebindable keys

bad news

• the cutscenes are 720p like PS3
• No mouse control in the menu

So. The best PS3 exclusive gets a good, user-friendly port on PC with two negligible problems, with all the DLC included, and for $20.

I played it 6 years ago too. In fact, I bought PS3 for this game.

But this game? It's timeless. It transcends the system wars bullshit and platform contentions. If this game comes out on PS4 or XBONE with 2 and 3 HD version included as a collection, I will buy that too. Valkyria Chronicles is beyond petty fanboy logic and whining.

Ever since I was a hansom child I'v always supported Sega. Game Gear was superior to the gameboy. With a tv attachment, it was ahead of it's time for decades.. This is a culmination of that, a pinnacle point. Faith never diminished.

Anyways. I tried getting into this game on PS3 when it came out. It seemed cool, but I just didn't stick with it. I might check this release out some time.

You will not notice the fps in this game, it is no screen movement at all except short attack animations. The artstyle is very "cartoonish" so high resolution doesnt make the game look much better than Ps3 version.

this version has a very big chance at outselling it's PS3 counterpart. If that happens sega may just push to bring VC 2 and 3 to the states.

You have to check SteamDB. But you can also just use the Enhanced Steam extension for Chrome, then it'll pop up a warning on the Steam Store page that there is a region lock with a link to the Steam DB page. Here's an example from the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel page:

But just so everyone knows, this is for trading. Do not use a VPN to buy things over steam

Definitely worth it, i already played and beat Valkyria Chronicles, but the game is so good and this port is looking so great, that i'm probably buying it once again.

I'll have to try this again if I can manage to pull myself away from rebirth.

Curious to see how fast it saves and loads on a PCIE SSD, which is roughly 10 times faster than a 7200 rpm HDD.

Also, a small correction. Only pre-rendered cut-scenes are 720p, since they are... well, pre-rendered. E.g. the intro movie when game starts. There are also non-pre-rendered cut-scenes, such as the conversation scenes.

I'm just excited more people get to experience this game. Definitely going to buy this so we have a better chance to get another sequel, or at least 2 and 3 ported to PC and consoles.

Congrats on a fraction of the aaa-aa-a titles of PC every year, with far worse gfx and performance to boot.

Cogreat to all gamers, because this preserves the game for the future. If it stayed on PS3 very soon it would be almost impossible to enjoy it thanks to ridiculous lack of backward compatibility.

Because of this I think every game should be ported to PC, including exclusives. Release it 6 years later if you're scared of it affecting consoles' sales, but do it, for the good of gaming as an entertainment medium.

This port is potentially a lifeline for the Valkyria Chronicles series, which has seen some of the greatest commercial declines since its initial lackluster sales.

Most cows who talk trash about this port most likely did not even support the game on their own platform when it was released as exclusive.

Just played it and yes the port is good. Feels wierd to press space bar for accepting things though. Also there's no AA.

That's the standard time for games to unlock on steam. It's also the time new sales start and pretty much any other change to the store page.

EDIT: Never mind. You didn't give a timezone so I assumed it was the normal 6pm GMT release. Seems the game is already out.
