Has Patcher ever been right? Who employs this fool? I dont feel like googling this. I bought the XB1 over PS4 for a number of reasons one of them mainly being last gen my PS3 sat in the dust most of time and I only touched it for exclusives like Uncharted and Resistance. Another reason is because I don't know if SONY will be around another 10 years.

I know! That's the sad thing about the whole mess. Well, other than the fact TLOU: R was a summer schedule filler and MCC is the big holiday game that'll really save the Xbone this time.

I think the more one dominates the other, the more wide and varied games will come out to reach out to a larger install base. Last gen, the fanbases were more or less evenly split by the end and games were increasingly conservative cash cows. Gen 5 and 6 were far more experimental and varied than 7 was as a result. Just my opinion.

Heh. I've got the games I want and the games lined up. You should be panicking though. The PS4 has more than twice as many exclusives as the Xbone next year.

You do realize you just said the same thing through a different perspective... right? No doubt, and people like him and I depend on those people to do that. Without a difference in sales things begin to stagnate. That is the beauty of owning both (or all) the consoles. Being in the minority, we know most will not get more than one either way, so we can express the best way forward without risking losing our advantage because people are stubborn and clingy, unwilling to budge from their idealisms. It's like telling everyone where a cave of gold (diversified gaming) lies in wait, but there is a deadly fire breathing dragon (their own stubbornness) guarding the mouth. Without places like system wars (among thousands of others) helping divide the pie we would have unison, and when we have unison, we edge closer to monopoly, and when we reach monopoly, we reach the end of competition, without competition our hands are forced, and while our hands are forced, we buy what is available since there is nothing else. A dangerous game of #danglingthecarrot while the ants scurry around searching for answers... a few already know ;)

Yeah, but that still doesn't hold water. Nintendo hadn't dominated gaming since the early 90's but the Wii was a wildfire success. Gamers aren't so much into monopoly as they are into backing whatever machine is best built for their interests in a given generation. The fear of monopoly and the drive to collect plastic boxes to drive games on doesn't really serve any higher agenda. The natural forces at play dictate a winner and from that winner will come more varied and innovative games from developers wanting to separate themselves from the rest of the game offerings.

It's when you make developers have to split their code base among equally dispersed installed fanbases across gaming devices that are 'similar' in hardware configuration to each other that the companies making the games have to be increasingly conservative to make sure they make products that have universal appeal across said similar platforms. In this regard, the XBox One was a serious **** up and they can only muddy the waters for gamers if they try to artificially produce a competition by merely leveraging liquid assets to subsidize a bad idea. That's why I'm not really feeling any of that Kumbaya buy all the things rationale. It's bad medicine.

Who knows? Maybe Steambox will be the next PS4 in generation 9. Sony could decide they want to make an all motion control system, Nintendo herp-derps something they thought would have novelty appeal and falls flay, MS... revives Kinect mandatory and always online DRM.. We'll be glad every gamer backs the Steambox and it becomes a wild success because that means whomever is left around for Generation 10 won't make a fuckupbox. Meanwhile, the games continue being exciting because the competition is over what matters, being the games not the hardware they are on.

I predicted close sales before launch, so this would make sense. I have the PS4 coming out 5-10 million total ahead when it's all said and done.
