OMG! EURO PS3s UPSCALE PS1/2 TO 1080p!

If this is true, then this could explain why the PAL version (but also the new US/JP versions) can only play limited numbers of PS2 titles.

Lems like me would say this is a good thing, since the 360 can only do 20% BC, but does them in 720p.

However, I think True BC is better, even if it isn't upscaled.

That explains a lot.

I'm still waiting for Sony to announce something.  This may end up being the case in the end, but I'm pretty sure Europe is getting screwed in the short run.

I think all this says, hold off on the PS3 until the dust clears.

If this is true, i will buy a PS3 a whole year earlier than i would normally, but they should announced it formally if they intent to really have something like that, and i am not buying a PS3 until it supports it out of the box

If this is true, Sony just screwed over 2/3 of their customers. I find it hard to believe that even Sony is this stupid. Has Sony really forgotten how to run a business?

A game with no textures and little lighting effects won't be improved all that much by a higher resolution. Am I the only one who sees that?ZebethOrZebes

PS2 games look like absolute rubbish on my 55" TV. Upscaled to 1080p through HDMI with added AA > 480i/p through composite I'm sure. I'm also sure the games I own are popular enough to be a priority for Sony. Except Pink Pong. So good news for me if it turns out being true. Which is quite likely really. Sony have been working on their software emulation for quite some time. In fact it was never supposed to be hardware based. Just a temporary solution they applied since the software emulation wasn't quite ready. Now it is, apparently.InsaneBasura

It must be true, if xbox 360 can emulate xbox games with AA and 720p, why not PS3 ? I will wait before i buy one, so i can have a version with a fully working emulator, now i would never buy a PS3, until some definite news on the BC are out, i would nto want to be left with a 600 euro PS3 that can't play my BC games in HD

I actually think ps2/1 games wouldn't benefit from 720/1080p as the textures would look awful,unless the ps3 could filter the textures to make them look smooth like the 360 does with xbox games.blacktorn
