Official TOMB RAIDER Hype Thread (8.5 @ GS, Final Hours ep.6)

Think I might pick it up in the next Steam Sale.

I just hope it's not poor man's Uncharted. Life's too short to play the bastardised version of the franchise I already enjoyed.

Great game,love the tombs,and the solid shooting,even the story,but my only complaint is that even on hard the game is really easy.Also the mp sucks.Uncharted 2>Tomb Raider>Ucharted 3/1.

Tomb Raider's performance on PlayStation 3 is the "preferred choice" to Xbox 360 for those seeking a console copy.

It's unfortunate they didn't release a survival version or the collector's version for the PC here in North America. It's looks pretty cool:

That was downright stupid of Squre Enix\Crystal Dynamics not to have it. I would have picked up the Survival Edition which is less expensive than the collector's edition. Normally I don't buy any "special" or "collector's" edition of anything since is too expensive but since I have been a Tomb Raider fan going back to the original Tomb Raider, (I have all the last 4 including Tomb Raiders made by Crystal Dynamics including Guradian of Light on my Steam account) and since this is an origin story and reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise and the game looks like the best Tomb Raider game since the original, I would have love to pick up the Survival Edition. Would love to have spend the extra $10-$20 dollars to get it. Looks like it has preety neath things like a book with all the artistic artwork by the artists on the team.

The only way to get it would be to order it from the UK. :(

Ok I need some help, Im the part where you visit the windmill area a second time and I know I am supposed to ride the gondola. When I first entered the area I saw that it was running but I fast traveled to the shanty town and back (to find some collectibles) and now the gondola is not working for me to get to the beach. What am I supposed to do? Can I activate it again somehow? Or am I just screwed? 

I'm still not far in the game (getting too caught up in Castlevania SOTN on XBLA) but I'm always so impressed by the graphics. It looks so damn good on my 50 inch HDTV. I just got the machine gun so I still lots ahead of me I'm guessing. I love how you can easily fast travel between fire camps, so nice for backtracking for collectables.

You can get the digital PC Survival edition on Steam that includes the following:
Digital Art Book, Digital Double Sided Map, Digital Soundtrack, DLC. I believe it's 52.19 which is pretty damn good considering.

Yeah I just saw that. But I want a physical copy with the actual art book that I can hold in my hand. I think thats kind of the point of getting a special version so you could hold it in your hands and flip through all the artwork and have all the special contents and display it on your shelf or desk.

Normally I buy all my games digital unless I want something that is special that I want a physical copy. Was pretty shocked that Crystal Dynamics\Square Enix didn't release a physical copy for the North American market while they released it in Europe. That's the first time I heard of such a thing happening for a major AAA title. :?

I just got to the snow section in TR where the bridge is at. The background scenery is amazing to look at. i know Uncharted 2 Had amazing graphics on its snow scenes too Dunno which is better yet.Mkavanaugh77

The PC version of Tomb Raider with all these DX 11 effects and tress FX easily beats the graphics in Uncharted 2.

Well this sucks. Because of a gamebreaking glitch I am going to have to restart the campaign over again. This really pisses me off because I am already pretty far in the game.

It doesn't consider scavenging every inch of a linear/claustrophobic map "exploration," so yes.

Every hub on the island has multiple routes to explore around that includes hidden or inaccessible areas requiring the proper gear acquisition to reach. That's how they place collectibles, some which are harder to find than others. This is inherint to exploration.

ive only found one tomb so far and it took like 10 minutes to solve. Do the tombs get bigger? or am I just in for more uncharted style gameplay?ultraking

Linear doesn't refer to map layout, which is exactly the same as Uncharted minus the ability to backtrack. Inherent to exploration is also reward. Getting more salvage and possibly a shiny token is a really crappy reward. Is there even any reason to 100% a place outside of completionists sake? "Tomb Raided" is just as big of an insult as DmC's wig joke.
