Heh, I suppose I was referring to the other sales generally. Although an approximate 1 million sales for a game that spans how many consoles still isn't very impressive...

@musicalmac: Consoles + PC is 5 platforms (for this game in particular). Though the bulk of retail sales were on XB1 and PS4 respectively.

However this game is a great living proof that this gen is clearly far more digital than before. The BF stats show that PS4 has consistently more active players, however retail sales favoured the XB1. Funny that, huh? :P

Also BB did awesome. Did more than DS2 in half the time and half the platforms (and a much, much smaller instal base). Heck even Mario Party managed almost 300k :P

Could the numbers be better? Sure! Are they bad? Not really.

It's funny everybody talking about holiday releases lol. You just in April people with The Witcher right around the corner along with Batman, ESO, State of Decay and the next Destiny DLC. We just got Mortal Kombat and Bloodborne with Dark Souls 2 and Ori and Borderlands and I'm sure 90% of you'll are still playing the heck out of these games and probably haven't beaten all of them and you're already jumping into October lol. Let's enjoy what we have now and enjoy what's coming in the near future and not all the way to the holidays already.

@blue_hazy_basic: They must have (other services do it after all) but I think they still only track retail. I think. For example that MK10 number is in reality 270k without digital.

@Desmonic: I suppose. For the tens of millions of potential customers, only a fraction of those customers actively reached out to purchase software. It leads me to think that these big blockbusters are occupying less of a space in gamers minds.

@musicalmac: Also true. "Indies*" are more and more "legit" games and compete for the same space tradicional AAA games usually want/get. So I think overall gamers buy with a bit more variety on consoles than some 5 years ago.

Digital sales on consoles make up about 10% according to npd.

It looks like there's talk of an 80-100k gap. Either way by NOW the gap would be 700k over.

I can see a small chance for the Xbox One in may since nobody has anything and they have Witcher 3 marketing, but I'm not betting any money on that. The PS4 before Sept. has to only sell ~400k more to get back to where the gap was last year. I think it may be possible to pass that if they have a good showing at E3 and Gamescom. One issue is that the PS4 doesn't have any big releases until then, but neither does the Xbox One so I'm thinking PS4 will win with 40-60k gaps until Sept, but nothing really big to push consoles until MGSV. Batman may increase the number but not by much as a game like MGSV will.

If Halo doesn't start any holiday momentum, it's over. Halo has to do very well in terms of moving consoles either in October or November, that momentum should also connect to COD. If Xbox one doesn't win October or November, BF deals and all, then the chances of them leading is gone and it will get less competitive every other month ending with a multi-million win ahead of the Xbox in NPD by the end of the generation.

Mario party 10 did pretty well for the Wii U. Another game may have pushed it over 100k. This is very surprising after the abomination that was Mario Party 9, and also strange because 10 plays kind of like 9...

What fantasyland coolaid are you sippin on because it must be good. There is NO chance for MS leading this gen period, that chance is well out the window. The only thing MS can do at this point is to actually try to be competitive by producing more high profile games and keep those price cuts coming to get closer to even ground.

PS4 would have to stop selling altogether for MS to ever had a chance at "leading" in the race this gen now and that is not going to happen.

Winning 2 months out of a year isn't a winning formula for winning a console race. I would have thought people would have figured that out by now, Sony did.

if your prediction was strickly NDP numbers you may have a point, but if you were talking actual numbers you may be wrong since Sony announced Bloodborne sold a million on their digital store

Yeah I think I am going to hold off until some concrete numbers are released. Over at Gaf the math wizards have calculated the BB numbers only add up to about 800K worldwide. We have to let the dust settle from all the PR babble to get the real figures.

But this is a NPD thread so my prediction was NPD based. At least that's my story because it makes it look like I'm right :p

yeah well im too cheap to buy a system for just 1 game l0l Im even kinda regreting buying my ps4. The only exclusive I play is bloodborne and it took SO long to come out. I dont think any system should be bought atm o.o I mean, if this is what I think about X1/Ps4, now imagine what I think about the Wii Us. They dont even deserve to exist
