Official GameSpot PS3 Game of the Year!

TLOU was one cool game.

I think this does mean that TLOU has a great chance of winning overall GOTY. I mean, GTAV can't really win GOTY if it lost PS3 GOTY. So it's either TLOU, a PC Exclusive or a handheld game or Wii U game. Maybe Mario? Or Zelda? But it can't really be the obvious choice of GTA

All three of those games are dope. Man gotta say PS3 is the best console I owned since SNES.

Personally I didn't enjoy it as much as most did, but even so I recognize why a lot of people liked it so much.

Why? It's not like there haven't been 3rd person action adventures before. TLOU plays very much like Uncharted with more resource management and crafting.I think both games are running in familiar territory. What makes GTA V so impressive is it's scale.

Eh, Last of Us benefits more from that style of game not being so common. So it feels fresher in comparison. Feels like a change of pace(which to an extent it very much is after Uncharted and modern day action games). But you are correct neither game is exactly bringing anything new to the table. Both are working with gameplay elements/design ideas that have existed for the last decade.

@casharmy: Agreed, I think that at this point it has to be TLOU, Mario or Zelda. I think with this announcement, GTA V getting GOTY just wouldn't make sense. Honestly, I think it will be the first year in awhile where I will be happy with any of the above 4 winning it.

There's probably that reason.. I've never played uncharted. But i've seen it and uncharted is tackled action straight on. TLOU was more of a stealth and planing how to kill kinda wanna be with the option to fight. ( Though you couldn't always fight everything head on ) and then the story was really interesting and enjoyable to me. GTA well... GTA has impressive architecture but that's where it ends. The world in GTA has always been dead to me because there's nothing interesting to do at all besides the missions or roaming around with a car destroying things(and that get's old really quick), so the large scale of the world feels necessary for the story but it's pretty dead and unimpressive aside from the architecture. Like why would i care there's people on the street walking around? and i have never finished a GTA before because the story doesn't keep me interested enough to finish it or find out what's gonna happen. Because the whole game already played out like mob fights and gangster type problems so i'm certain it ends that way. I'll give GTA V a try some day though.

Possible. Or- Give TLOU the best PS3 game and GTA V GOTY.

But that doesn't really make sense does it? I mean that's saying GTA V is the best game of the year, but it wasn't better than TLOU....

That is how we thought it the year Demon's Souls won. We thought Uncharted 2 would win GotY and DS just PS3 of the year. Nope! DS won it all!
