It has recently come to peoples attentiosn who ordered the rift devkit that they will no longer be receiving the Doom BFG edition as promised. The game simply won't be implemented by the time they ship. but Oculus have said they will give some gifts to soften the pain.

-$20 Steam Wallet credit, perfect for buying your next game on Steam (including DOOM 3 BFG Edition without Rift developer kit support if you still want it).

- $25 Oculus Store credit, which can be applied to future purchases at the Oculus Store including Oculus Latency Testers, new Oculus t-shirts, and more Rift development kits.

There is speculation that the creator of the rift and John Carmack came to arguments because Carmack thinks the Rift is far too laggy to be a good solution for VR gaming. To which the creator said "we got this John, stay out of my way". But that could be false.

When we launched the Kickstarter campaign, we said wed bundle a copy of DOOM 3 BFG Edition with each development kit as an extra Thank you. Unfortunately, weve been informed that DOOM 3 BFG Edition will not support the Rift development kit by the time we begin shipping.
Since DOOM 3 wont be available, wed like to try and make it up to you.Oculus

I don't have a source because it's coming into peoples emails about it, sorry.

That's becuase the Doom BFG edition is the upscaled Xbox port of the game. Bethesda didn't want ID to waste much time on the whole thing so they just took the version that would be most compatible with the consoles and had them port that.

This is why the PC version of the BFG edition had none of the feautres of the original Doom 3 and had worse textures.

how bad is the delay on the Oculus Rift?  Is it as bad as the delay a 360 has (~1/2 second)?
